Chinese New Year inspired a lot of fashion designers to create unique pieces with dragon motifs.

Shanghai-based designer Qi Gang showed beautiful ready-to-wear and haute couture collections during the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza on 16 January 2012.

"The Chinese believe that something major usually happens in the Year of the Dragon. I hope my collection can deliver a positive message that 2012 will be a joyful Year of the Dragon. The collection conveys an extravagant feeling with rich Chinese elements and craftsmanship."- said the designer.

Qi Gang is considered one of the most talented Chinese designers. His precision, attention to detail, and unlimited creativity never cease to impress.

Qi Gang presented a spectacular collection that was both dramatic and theatrical. Beautifully designed pieces, innovative shapes and forms, influenced by traditional Chinese costumes, made bold statement on the catwalk and proved that the designer truly deserves all the attention that he is getting.

I had an opportunity to meet Qi Gang after his show. He was surrounded by journalists and photographers who were queuing in order to get their five minutes. From all four international designers that participated in Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza that evening, he was definitely the one who was most popular. Have a look at the fabulous ring that he was wearing!
