bank_2The sun is finally in the sky, which means it's time to break free of jumpers and jeans and get stuck into your summer wardrobe. If your warm weather selections are severely limited, you may want to invest in a few key pieces to see you through the season, take your time to search out special items online, where there are great offerings such as those at BANK Womens clothes. Meanwhile, here are five failsafe pieces you can mix and match for warmer weather, whether you are home or abroad.

1)Maxi dress
Back for a second summer season in a row, the maxi dress is proving a surprisingly versatile wardrobe piece, which could soon make it to a summer wardrobe staple. Select your maxi carefully and you could have a dress that is not only suitable for holiday dressing, but will also double as suitable attire at any summer weddings. For maximum wearability, look out for floaty numbers which don't flash too much flesh and keep to simple colours rather than going too garish and bright.

2)Roll up denim shorts
This season denim shorts like skinny jeans come in all colours of the rainbow. For a classic day time look, team faded blue shorts with a baggy vest top and flip-flops and at night wear hot pink or electric blue shorts with black tights.

Although not an obvious choice for a summer in the UK, with the heat waves we have been predicted recently, a good bikini is a must-have. A bikini is also a great item to take to festivals as it can let you cool off in the crowds and can help minimise the number of things you need to pack.

Sunglasses aren't just the stylish choice – they are the safe choice. Wherever you are it's important to give your peepers some good UV protection against the sun. With this in mind you should follow the example of the celebs – because when it comes to sunglasses and protection against the sun, it really is a case of the bigger, the better.

5)Oversized top
T-Shirts, Vests, chiffon blouses; this season these all come in oversized varieties, which are perfect for balancing short shorts and keeping you bright and breezy. For a top which can transcend beach to club, seek out bright patterns such as coloured animal or floral prints. These will be a welcome cover-up after sunbathing, but won't look out of place on the dance floor.
