...when they were both among the 67 international designers chosen to take part in the 2010 World of WearableArt Awards (WoW), held annually in Wellington, New Zealand.
The WoW awards is an internationally recognized event whose aim is to "take art off the walls and put it on the body"; in 2010 it was attended by over 43,000 visitors.
Recognizing their connection and shared design aesthetic, they became friends and made the decision to work together. Richelle Dynae and Audra E are pleased to be showcasing the first results of this collaboration with their 2012 Spring/Summer Collection.
Richelle Dynae has a degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, as well as a degree in Costume Design for Performance from the Arts University College at Bournemouth. At the 2010 WoW Awards one of Richelle's pieces, The Ring Mistress, won both the Avant Garde Section and the 2010 People's Choice Award. The Ring Mistress is now part of the permanent collection at the WoW Museum in Nelson, NZ.
Currently based in London, Richelle Dynae has always had a passion for the concept of fashion as wearable art. In October 2010 she launched Richelle Dynae Designs, also known simply as 'Richelle Dynae', specializing in creating custom fashion and costume pieces. With her experience in both current fashion and historical costume, she has created a niche for herself that allows her to create works of wearable art that are both contemporary and historically inspired in their use of textiles, materials and overall design.
Richelle's design philosophy can be summarised as "the act of impacting an audience through the artful combination of shape, color and texture as it interacts with movement".
Audra Elizabeth Kaske received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the Illinois Institute of Art. She has always had a keen eye for fashion in relation to colour, texture and design, and in October of 2010 launched her own design label, Audra E. Currently based in Chicago, Audra E specializes in ready-to-wear and couture hats as well as custom attire and headwear.
Audra E's philosophy is to "create attire to embellish the theater of everyday life".
Each piece made by Richelle Dynae and Audra E is made with deep thought, care, dedication and expertise; resulting in a custom product that is dramatic, captivating and detailed. After all, "Every day is a performance, dress for the one you want" - Audra E.
