JARDINE OF LONDON

Mary was brought up in Gloucestershire, but moved to Suffolk when she met her husband and is married and mother of two grown-up boys. Both boys have strong design and entrepreneurial skills. Her husband John, who is a serial entrepreneur, has been the backbone of the family – urging them all to create new ideas and giving them confidence to push their ideas through - with the end goal of achieving a viable and commercial business.

Mary Jardine’s background was in the modelling world of organising photoshoots, fashion shows, advertising and marketing. For several years Mary ran her own regional modelling agency whilst also scouting on behalf of Models 1 on a ‘mother agency’ basis. At that time, Mary dealt with the highly respected talent scout Fiona Ellis at Models 1 – Fiona was responsible for discovering the likes of
Erin O’Connor, Karen Elson and Alek Wek.

Mary has always loved handbags – what girl doesn’t. One of her dreams was to have her own brand luxury handbag business and finally has realised her dream. My inspiration for the gold star used in her brand name comes from the Jardine Star Brooch which was left to Queen Elizabeth II in 1981 by Lady Jardine. The brooch has eight points and a diamond is placed on a knife-wire between each point.

Mary is passionate and proud that her bags are made in Britain. Mary has sourced the highest quality soft calf leather which gives the bags their luxurious feel. All the materials used are of a very high quality. Her inspiration for her first collection came from childhood memories of her leather music case – hence the music bar detail. She always wondered what it would be like to have something incredibly chic with lovely clean lines incorporating the bar but at the same time being practical. Mary feels she has achieved it with the Jardine of London ‘City’ Bag.
