Mixed Chicks – a revolutionary hair care brand for curly hair launched in 2004 in the US and has gained an army of celebrity fans across the pond.
Celebrity fans using Mixed Chicks products are Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Halle Berry, chart-toppers Jordin Sparks, Ciara, Macy Gray and even rock royalty, Slash from Guns and Roses.

The brand launched in the UK earlier this year, and has already won the approval of Alesha Dixon. According to celebrity hairdresser Michelle Sultan, who tends to Alesha's tresses, the Britain's Got Talent judge is "totally hooked" on the Mixed Chicks deep conditioner. Sultan said: "I gave her some tubs to try and three weeks later she came back asking for more. She just loves it!"

The deep conditioner works a treat on straight and curly styles alike, to nourish, detangle and restore thirsty locks. The exclusive conditioning blend penetrates and reconstructs damaged areas, transforming style-stubborn hair into resilient, easy to maintain and shiny hair tresses. Alesha is so impressed she has mentioned the brand in various TV and magazine interviews.

Alesha may sport a slinky straight do when working, but Michelle reveals that Alesha likes to wear her natural when she's at home. "Alesha's hair has this amazing curl to it. She doesn't wear it natural very often when she's working but whenever I see her at home, she's got the big curls going – all bouncy and lovely. Just really carefree and cool" says Michelle.

Michelle Sultan's other celebrity clients include Kelly Rowland, Solange Knowles, The Saturdays, Alexandra Burke, Jill Scott, Serena Williams, Freyma Agyeman and the Sugarbabes as well as styling for TV shows including X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.

The Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner is the most popular product in the range and is an ideal way to create fuss free, big, bouncy and defined curls. Designed to moisturize, control frizz and define curls, simply work a generous portion through soaking wet hair, leave-in and air-dry for the softest, bounciest and most defined curls ever! A great tip is to dilute some leave in conditioner in a spray bottle as a quick fix for that frizzy 'halo' that curly girls can sometimes be afflicted with.

The curl defining formula is designed for all curly girls, as Mixed Chicks founder Kim Etheridge points out "hair products shouldn't be designed around what race somebody is, but rather what texture their hair is." The range was designed by two mixed race women (Kim Etheridge and Wendy Levy) who found it difficult to find products that suited their hair texture – as neither European nor Afro hair products seemed to work for them. Their stylish packaging states 'whether you're Black, White, Asian, Latin, Mediterranean, or any glorious combination of the above, Mixed Chicks is the product you've been waiting for.'

The UK has one of the fastest growing mixed race populations in the world, with an annual growth rate of nearly 5% year-on-year, so there will be an increasing demand for products to define and manage curls. While chain stores like Boots and SuperDrug have finally started stocking products for Afro hair in recent years, there is still a gap in the market for what is likely to be the largest ethnic minority group in the UK by 2020.

The Mixed Chicks range of shampoos, deep-conditioning and leave-in treatments, soaps, thermal protectant and styling products means that every type of mixed race, curly or unruly hair is catered for. Great for coloured, straightened and chemically treated hair, Mixed Chicks is here to provide the freedom for hair to flow free and feel fantastic.
