Chanel is one of the few fashion houses that have managed to create garments which have withstood the test of time.

Coco Chanel’s timeless and classic designs have been in the wardrobes of the rich and famous for over a hundred years. Today these elegant designs are still being replicated but with a fresh and original take. Chanel has become increasingly modern, taking influence from the young stars and more young adults are feeling inspired by their elegant cuts. Sadly we don’t all have a budget that will stretch to accommodate some of these timeless designs, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t emulate Chanel in other ways.

Keep an eye on the current trends

This is essential and it doesn’t need to be too taxing. Keeping an eye on the current trends and designs from Chanel can be as simple as following them on Instagram or searching for photographs of their latest shows. Looking through these images will inspire you and give you some idea of the themes and elements of the latest collection which you can then bring to your own wardrobe.

Chanel Haute Couture Show with Julianne Moore and Kristen Stewart

This summer, Chanel held their haute couture show in a casino at the Grand Palais. A memorable look from the show was Kendall Jenner’s dramatic transformation in a military bride cream suit with a strong red lip colour and bob. The evening was an unforgettable mix of fashion and gambling as celebrities, including Kristen Steward, Julianne Moore and Lara Stone celebrated the show by playing blackjack, card games and slot machines. The key elements to remember from this evening were being unafraid to try something new. Before you hit the casino in a town near you, it might be an idea to visit Spin Palace and practice your Blackjack or Baccarat, that way you will maximise your chances of winning on the evening!

For S/S 2016 think bold colours, geometric prints:

The latest collection which was offered by Chanel was full of bold colours – reds, blues, teals, pinks in geometric patterns as well as the classic Chanel shade of black. These are easily transferred into more affordable brands. If you’re unsure of where to begin, these tops are a good start: this Greylin Ginny Geometric Halter Top is on sale at £48 at the moment, or this shell top from Jovonna is only £25. Of course, the classic Chanel accessory that will never go out of style is the pearl necklace, pairing one with any outfit is the ultimate way to emulate this French fashion house.
