Well with shops clearing out their summer stock autumn fashion seems to be fast approaching.
With this in mind I had a look through recent catwalks and discovered a repeating trend of yet more tweeds, check overcoats, liquid lame gowns and bowler hats. This style takes a little new inspiration from Victoriana and a little from what I would call a classic murder mystery and builds upon last autumns trends. It is best described as very British. Think good old sporting gear, tweed riding jackets, jodhpurs, hunting and fishing tweeds. The alternative is the more feminine winter ball look consisting of velvet, lame, golden embellishment and of course fur and feathers. Ralph Lauren recreated this look amazingly in his A/W 2012 collection.
Whichever look you go for remember to go for a luxurious, classy look. Dress like you're in a period drama or a movie star. Exaggerating is the key to this look, go out in costume. Vintage and charity shops are great places to get good quality tweed at low prices or splash out for a brand new blazer, however you wish to interpret this look take your own spin on it and create your own twist.
