2017 Skirt Trends J D Williams

For those who like to show a bit of leg, the big news is that skirts are back.

After several years, where it was hard to find a decent skirt, the shops are flooded with them. In 2017, they come in many shapes and forms.

To help you to navigate the clothes rails we have put together this quick skirt trends post. Below you will discover what is hot and what is not, as well as which cut you need for your body type, and look.

Full length maxi style skirts

Perhaps the most surprising trend is maxi skirts. For a while now, many fashion pundits have been saying that the maxi dress trend is over and there is some evidence that they are right. That style of dress is not as widely available as it has been over the past few years.

Yet maxi skirts are everywhere. They are a good option for anyone who feels conscious of their legs, which makes it a popular item of clothing that is flattering on so many body shapes.

Close fitting skirts

Whilst the majority of the skirts we have seen on the catwalk have been of the loose fitting variety, this is not the only look that is available. Most designers have also included figure hugging styles of skirt in their collections. Tube skirts and pencil skirts are easy to find on the high street as well as designer brands.

Pleated skirts

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the fact that pleated skirts are back in vogue. A few fashion designers included these in their collections, in 2015. But, for some reason they did not catch the attention of the general public. From the looks of things that has changed completely, this year. There are mid-calf length pleated skirts available in most stores. With celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Selena Gomez and Beyoncé wearing them, this time around it is no surprise that the look has taken off.

Skater cut skirts

For those who want something that is a little more fun, skater skirts are a good look. They work well for most figures, and because they are cut relatively short, if you are proud of your legs they are a great option.
