One of the most talked about comedies of last year joins the fantastic entertainment line-up on The Africa Channel (Sky 268).
Meet the Adebanjos follows the day-to-day life of a modern British-African family living in the heart of south London. At the helm is larger-than-life patriarch Bayo (Wale Ojo - Johnny English Reborn, The Guard) who regularly clashes with his wife and two teenage children. Their problem with him is his frequent mishaps and dated, traditional African values which Bayo tries to drum in to the reluctant household. Meet the Adebanjos, new to The Africa Channel, Fridays from 6th April at 9pm.

Based on the familial experience of the series creator Debra Odutuyo, the show gained a huge following with an impressive 750,000 viewers when it debuted online. The eight-part, award-winning comedy takes a humorous swipe at the clash of cultures and generations as Bayo's UK born teenagers', Sade (Andrea Ama Aboagye) and Tobi (Daniel Anthony), attempt to bounce him into this century! And if his immediate family wasn't enough, the numerous visits from relatives and friends leave Bayo in a permanent state of annoyance!

Adebayo and Gladys Adebanjo (Yetunde Oduwole) left their beloved home Nigeria 30 years ago to begin a new life in England. But like many of their peers, Bayo is set in his ways with endless dreams of making it big - but his plans always end in disaster. Housewife Gladys puts up with her husband's pipedreams while putting her hopes of romance on pause.... Her eccentric sister turned annoying lodger, 'Aunty' Funke (Moji Bamtefa), has more than outstayed her welcome and regularly locks horns with Bayo. Funke's aim in life, apart from finding a job, is to bag herself a husband. Daughter Sade, like many girls her age is a self-absorbed social butterfly who swiftly dodges her father's old fashioned values, while younger brother Tobi opposes everything their dad says. Along with his streetwise best mate and neighbour Kevin (Jordan Coulson), the pair often lands themselves in a world of trouble.

Creator and executive producer Debra Odutuyo said: "I'm very excited to be the first original UK sitcom to launch on the Africa Channel. This project has been five years in the making and it feels so good to be on a platform who truly believe my vision and who are committed to showcasing high quality international hit shows. Make sure you tune in, if you don't I will send Aunty Funke round to your house to deal with you!"
After years of pitching the idea to major broadcasters without success, Debra and co-executive producer Andrew Osayemi decided to go it alone. MTA Productions Ltd was created in 2011 and along with Fresh Media Productions Ltd, they produced Meet the Adebanjos. The show has recently been picked up by terrestrial territories in Nigeria and Uganda with plans for broadcast in the United States and South Africa and several other African countries.
