With less than seven days to go until the Hackney Half, the unique 5.5k and Virgin Sport’s soon to be famous Go Fit Yourself stage and Festival Village, it’s time to get stretching.

Whether you’re taking part, supporting a friend or just coming for the atmosphere, here’s everything you need to know:
The Hackney Half Marathon - The jewel in the Virgin Sport Hackney Festival of Fitness’ crown, the 13.1 mile headliner sees runners race through roaring crowds and take in the Hackney Downs, Hackney Empire, Broadway Market, Victoria Park, and the London Stadium. For fans (“Spectathletes”) check out the runners’ race brochure for Fan Hub locations and Walking Route challenge.
5.5km Run – A fun, unique distance, where everyone gets a PB! Runners are rewarded for that extra 10% effort with 3 buzzing entertainment points, water & energy stations, finisher’s t-shirt and medal.
Go Fit Yourself Stage – A chance to come and train together with London’s most sought after instructors for FREE! With classes from the likes of; Faisal Abdalla, Shona Vertue, Bradley Simmonds, Kim Ngo, Troy Dureh, and Fat Buddha Yoga taking place throughout the day, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Daybreaker – Virgin Sport are super excited to announce that there will be an early morning free dance party with the global movement Daybreaker to kickstart festival proceedings. They don’t need alcohol. They don’t need to pretend to be someone else. They just come as they are and dance with reckless abandon. See you on the Marshes dance floor!

Post-Race Physio/Massage - Feeling aches and pains post-race? Then make sure you visit the team from Your Physio Plan to get those niggles dealt to.
Mr Doodle - Mr Doodle is a crazy doodler, whose art is a true spectacle and performance. Mr Doodle will be creating a live drawing inspired by the day.
Come and Chill Out - We have bean bags, deck chairs and picnic tables to sit, celebrate and soak up the fantastic Hackney atmosphere.
Food and Drink - The festival village has a whole host of local food and drink traders for you and your friends. Pop ups and trucks will be serving up everything from pizza and mouth-watering burgers, to green juices, buddha bowls, glutose/dairy/lactose/vegan preferences, beers and even celebratory bubbles! We recommend bringing cash with you on the day as not all vendors will be taking card.
Kids of all ages - For the kids, and adults with inner kids, there are FREE football workshops with Coats and Goalposts and climbing walls to test your skills. For the very little kids, Hackney Playbus will be there filled with arts and crafts, and other fun things.
Festival vibes - There will be roaming entertainment all day, including Marawa’s Majorettes wonderful Hula-Hoop troupe keeping us spinning towards summer. Also, Pall Mall Barbers will be there to give you a free haircut and beard trim, and our local friends The Flower Appreciation Society will be making their beautiful floral head dresses for everyone to enjoy in the festival village, completely free – put on your headdress/crown/garland and take a bloomin’ fab looking selfie!
If you’re keen to come down entry to the festival is completely free and there are tickets available for the 5.5k and the exclusive Fit Front Row for the best seat in the house at the stretch session. The Virgin Sport Festival of Fitness series starts in Hackney on the 30th April, if you can’t make this one, Virgin Sport Westminster featuring the British 10k is on the 9th July, San Francisco is on the 14-15th October and Oxford on 8th October.
