If you are planning a wedding for this year, you might be willing to overlook many of the usual wedding staples, such as white dresses and traditional chapel ceremonies.

Research and expert opinion have shined a light on the quirky trends that look set for great popularity in 2018.

Untypical Venues

Your choice of wedding venue can underpin almost all of your other selections for your nuptials. However, as The Knot reports, couples are increasingly opting for unconventional venues, such as boxing gyms and pop-up barns.

Nonetheless, many spouses-to-be are also clearly still enticed by the prospect of a beautifully historical backdrop. For example, historic libraries have often been chosen, as have large residences featuring sprawling outdoor spaces, such as traditional chateau wedding venues.

The impressive grounds at our own Château Bouffémont, located on the Parisian outskirts, include manicured French gardens. If you or any guests at your wedding will be taking along children, keep in mind that our grounds are also secured, allowing these little ones to play around safely.

I'll Be Backdrop: Making A Statement

You might prize privacy in your own chosen wedding venue. Our château is in a pleasingly remote location 30 kilometres from central Paris - and booking this venue would, for your wedding day, grant you and your guests exclusive use of both the château and its grounds.

However, you might still want to provide an aesthetic spectacle for people who do attend on your invitation. An article on the Bridal Guide site notes the recently increased popularity of dramatic backdrops - and the refined elegance of our château's architecture and jaw-dropping surroundings can help you to provide a wedding backdrop that is the very definition of stunning.

Let There Be White... Or Not

What will you and your partner wear on the big day? Whatever is chosen, it looks like it probably won't be all white on the night. According to a Pinterest report mentioned by the Daily Mail, traditional white gowns have faded in popularity as bridal attire.

However, the image-sharing social network has recently seen 46% more searches for rose-coloured dresses, while those of a champagne hue have skyrocketed in popularity with 358% more searches. Meanwhile, grooms have shaken the stuffiness out of their attire - tie-free looks have attracted 459% more searches, and tweed suits have become more popular as well.

For Goodness Cake!

The cake can serve as a crucial centrepiece of any wedding. Nonetheless, for your own wedding, you can still have a big hand in the precise look and composition of that cake. Peculiar visual details which have recently become more popular on wedding cake include pearls, flowers and black accents. Some couples even favour baking two flavours into the same cake.

Examples of dual-flavour combinations that have ascended in popularity include chocolate and a lighter and fruitier alternative. You might be particularly attracted to a carrot cake if your wedding will take place during the daytime, when the fairytale style of Château Bouffémont's architecture can especially stand out. We also allow a range of outdoor pursuits to be enjoyed on the site.

These activities include golf, tennis and horse riding. We also allow guests to take on-site dance lessons - and, frankly, you might think they desperately need them! Usually, at a wedding, the dance floor attracts many people who could otherwise be picking up slices of a recently cut cake.

Fortunately, another emerging twist on the tradition of the wedding cake is the provision of bite-size pieces which can be easily handed to guests at a distance from where cake might otherwise be cut.

By taking these tips to heart, you can help to ensure that you hold a truly on-trend wedding in 2018, while still incorporating no shortage of your own individual, timeless style.
