Charlotte Rhys

Charlotte Rhys made its name in South Africa as a luxury fragrance brand that takes responsible actions toward the environment, the local flora and society. Fashions Finest dived into this new scented world to share some considerations.

After 20 years of activity, Charlotte Rhys lands in the UK to bring a taste of South African nature to our daily life. The brand shows how the quest for luxury personal products can be done not at the expense of Mother Nature.

About And Behind The Brand

It all started with just one product when Janet Rhys and Shaun McDermott founded their small cosmetic business in Cape Town back in 1999. Today, Charlotte Rhys counts over 100 scented products for the body and the house and established its presence in the luxury and hospitality sectors in South Africa. The venture would have not been possible without the partners' expertise in retail and Shaun's specialisation in chemistry. After two decades of growth, the South African luxury brand is ready to offer its quality to UK enthusiasts.

Sustainable Luxury

Charlotte Rhys' mantra is 'perfume your world'. To deliver its scented message, the brand is safeguarding the surrounding environment, the source of its aromas, with an ethical philosophy. Charlotte Rhys gained accreditations from the Beauty Without Cruelty and the Vegan Society of South Africa which ensure every product is 100% cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. Botanics and organics do not mix with any common chemicals, like SLS or petrolatum, or animal-derived products. This is an example of sustainable luxury: the biodiversity of South Africa comes first. Charlotte Rhys carefully selects raw materials - of which some, like baobab and green rooibos, are unique to the African environment - that have been sustainably wild-harvested. Sophisticated fragrances and body products are stored in refined and biodegradable packaging to complete this green vision.

Considerations

Deborah St. Louis (director of Fashions Finest) says: 'Oud Blanche Eau de Toilet - you are presented with a beautiful sleek and elegant black bottle. The eau de toilet smells delightful, kind of woody and musky.

Supreme Body Cream - good size tub of whipped cream that lands well and absorbs easily on the skin leaving it feeling moisturised and lush. Supreme Body cream is lightly fragranced with sweet almond and sunflower oil.

Everyone loves a body scrub and Charlotte Rhys version will not disappoint. Firstly it's soft and easily applied in the bath or shower over the whole body. I used it all over my body and afterwards my skin was smooth and silky. The smell is amazing! Again fragranced with sweet almond but you can definitely smell citrus, one of my favourite smells.

Overall Charlotte Rhys's Luxury products would get a 10/10 from me.'

Charlotte Rhys is opulence that leaves a sign in the air, not on the land. You can Charlotte Rhys' scented collections online.
