I would like to start the new year by sharing one of my most enjoyable highlights from last year.....Enjoy and don't forget to pop back next week to read all about my favourite beauty products entering 2016 with me.
In July 2015 I had the pleasure to travel to Florence Italy, to provide makeup and hair for an editorial shoot.
The concept of the shoot was to experience the unknown streets of Florence and experience it from the eyes of a local girl going about her day to day life and day dreaming about her dreams. This local girl, played by Charli, is able to keep her dreams alive of being a royal princess as well as showing her everyday life as she cycles down the street, takes a ride in her chariot or visits in a local park.
The era was not to be present day but a mixture of 50s, 40s and 20s. This was achieved by mixing up wardrobe, hair and make-up looks from the different eras to create our final look.

This is the season to party, and all those late night partying leaves your skin looking tired. And the last thing you want, waking up after a great night is tired looking skin. So why not let your products take the night shift. Why not give these products a try this party season?
A good night cream recovers and moisturizers. The new Miracle sleeping cream from Garnier does just that, with its self-smoothing texture it envelops the skin and visibly helps to reduce the signs of fatigue while you sleep.
For best results, especially during this crazy party season, use it every night for skin that looks refreshed and less tired.
Overnight mask is one of the best ways to wake up with beautifully refreshed skin. Garnier’s Miracle Wake Up Cream serves as an overnight mask. It re-awakens your skin revealing radiant, soft and youthful looking skin morning after morning.
“Remove all make-up & cleanse skin to wake up with well-hydrated skin”
As far as Serums goes the number one serum, for me will always be Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II. After the first night of using it you will wake up to more beautiful looking skin.
Billion Dollar Brows. If you haven't heard of them, you will very soon as the American brand, founded by Natalie and Dan Plain gets ready to launch in Boots stores nationwide.
We love a good highlighter and can definitely no live without our favourite moisturizer and we never leave the house without our much-loved lipstick, but when it comes to skin care and beauty products we want something that will give us beautiful glowing skin.
Waking up with dull and lifeless skin can makes you want to crawl back into bed, in need of more sleep to wake up your skin.
Not to worry ladies, help is at hand with the newest power players to boost your skin and brighten your eyes.
First up is the lastest from Elizabeth Arden, the Superstart skin renewal booster. This products helps to restore the healthy look of your skin's surface layer.
What does it do; it stimulates the skin’s natural ability to repair and renew it self.
How to use it; apply it before your serum or moisturiser, it boosts the results of your skincare products. Your skin looks beautiful, resilient and refreshed, ready to face the day.
Why do you need this product; When the surface layer of your skin is damaged, your skin may not be able to retain moisture, and loses its natural defences to protect itself and will ultimately lose its the ability to renew itself. The Superstart Skin Renewal Booster, was designed to strengthen the skin's natural ability to repair and renew by restoring the healthy appearance of your skin's surface layer.
Lancôme Visionnaire Nuit Beauty Sleep
This unique gel-in-oil formula with its ultra-light texture that melts into your skin for super hydrated and plumped up skin.
What I love about this product is, that you immediately see the difference in your skin. It looks smoother, feels softer, suppler and looks nourished. Beautifully revitalised skin.
Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate
This product wakes up your eye area and enhances the performance of other eye creams.
Used as a pre eye care treatment it helps to fight against external environmental factors that can cause damage to the skin. Protecting the skin against moisture loss while working to diminish fine lines, roughness and dryness. A great aid in fighting the anti-ageing war as it strengthens and regenerates the eye area.
The skin around your eyes becomes soft, smooth and supple
Improves fine lines and wrinkles
Diminishes dark circles as your skin tone becomes, even bright and luminous
All in all a winning result!!
My eyes have been looking fabulous this week, as I have been reviewing Eye of Horus products. It is an Australian colour cosmetics brand that promises to bring out your inner Goddess. Eye of Horus products are not tested on animals they contain natural ingredients and are paraben free. All products either come in gold or black stylish packaging. I was more than pleased with each product that I tested.
• Dynasty brow define-this is a thin make-up pen used for filling in your brows and giving you perfect arches as an end result. (My colour was medium/dark). One of the ingredients in Castor oil, which enhances your brows condition and growth.
• Babylon brown liquid define-this glides smoothly onto your eyes to give a loud but perfect line. It is also smudge proof and will stay on all day.
• Goddess smoky eye pencil-this was my favourite, I used this to achieve black smoky eyes. I used the pencil part to draw on the lines and then used the other end to smudge, ending up with perfect smoky eyes.
• Eye of Horus Goddess mascara-ingredients include Moringa oil that was found in King Tuts tomb. This make-up is based on ancient Egyptian formulas and is said to have beautifying powers by the Gods. It made my lashes longer, thicker and they did not smudge or clump together.
• Goddess smudge proof eye pencil-easily glides on, looks fantastic and does not smudge.
In my ultimate Goddess promotional pack I also received a custom cosmetic sharpener and a free promotional gift. Eye of Horus products help my eyes make a statement and it really has revealed my inner Goddess.

This fashion week season is well underway having started in New York and soon to be in London in just a couple of days time. We all know that fashion week season is focused on the clothes being showcased from all the fabulous designers around the globe but a women's guilty pleasure is that we can't help but admire all the makeup looks created on the models each season.
One of the most iconic makeup artists in the world of makeup and present at fashion week every season creating beautifully designed looks whether it be natural to creative is Pat McGrath. Pat McGrath’s name is no secret to anyone in the business, her talent is beyond incredible and each season I look forward to seeing her new makeup designs. Makeup trends soon spread across the globe each season based on the key looks she creates and the new season will be no different.
McGrath’s main focus on all models across all designers she keyed makeup looks for this season at NYFW was to keep the skin soft and dewy. Gleaming, glowing skin with well defined structured brows were key for all models. She then adapted looks to suit each individual designers designs.
For Jenny Peckham, McGrath chose to use a turquoise eyeliner in a shape to suit the individual models eyes, she then teamed up with either a nude or bold red lip.
At Diane Von Furstenburg, she chose shades of turquoise and blue-greens to create a jewel toned eye again keeping the lips nude teamed with the gleaming skin.
Victoria Beckham’s models were kept a little more simple concentrating on the glowing skin teamed with either a nude lip or a pop of orange-red lips.
While at Givenchy she changed the direction slightly by adding a wash of mauve shadow around all of the eye. And keeping the brows light.
Not only were pastel shades of turquoise, green and blue used on the eyes in Pat McGrath’s designs it seemed to be everywhere supported with a nude or orange tone red lip.
So now you're ahead of one of the makeup trends at NYFW SS16 why not head down to the makeup counters and try some shades for yourself.
In our 20’s and 30’s ageing is the last thing on our mind but once you hit the BIG 40 those ageing concerns starts to creep in. So instead of trying to hide your age by covering up, here are some simple tips on how to master the techniques, textures and colours to keep you looking radiant and youthful.
Take It Easy
An overly made-up skin will make you look so much older, so take it easy with the make- up and if you have dark circles or some sun spots dot a tiny bit of concealer on the inner corners of your eyes or on those spots and not all over your face. The more skin you show the better, especially if it is well-hydrated skin. This will give you more youthful looking complexion than a heavily covered complexion.
Switch To A Lightweight Base
As we age our skin is prone to discolouration and dullness, so look for a foundation that illuminates as well as gives good coverage. Avoid heavy consistency foundations that will cake in your fine lines this will age you further. Tinted moisturizers with luminescent particles or lightweight liquid foundations are best for lined skin because unlike pressed powder, which settles into the wrinkles and makes the skin look even older that what it is, a light-reflective liquid formula creates the illusion of a glowing complexion. Also blending a lightweight foundation or CC Cream evenly into your face and neck with lightweight concealer to shadow problem prone areas, like around your nostrils and under your eyes.
To apply foundation flawlessly, you can use either a damp sponge or a foundation brush to dot it all over your face in tiny amounts, use loose translucent powder, on your face avoiding the eye area, to set it.
Open Your Eyes
Eyelids tend to sag with age, but with clever contouring you can disguise a lack of definition. Curling your eyelashes will lift sagging eyes, and a volumising mascara will thicken your lashes that have grown sparse with age.
Curling your eyelashes and adding a glimmer shadow as a highlighter are the easiest way you can make your eyes look bigger. Work a soft, matte shadow into your socket line to add depth but avoid pale and glittery products that can settle into fine lines and dull your complexion. As far as mascara go for the blackest black mascara you can find as it will make the whites of your eyes look clearer and whiter.
Thick and full brows can take years off your face and because your brows lifts and defines your face you want to fill them in to make them look fuller. So if your eyebrows are thin, use an eyebrow kit to fill in any gaps and add structure with an eyebrow gel. Select an eyebrow pencil in a natural colour like blond or brown and draw feathered lines to fake fuller brows.
Your natural lip line can begin to fade as you age and this will make your lipstick bleed so tracing your lip line with a clear lip liner can help lipstick stay in place. Avoid matte textured lipstick, which will shrink lips further. Instead, apply a dab of gloss to the centre of your lower lip to fake a well-hydrated, plump pout. Mid-tone coral and red lipsticks look good on most skin tones regardless of age, but steer clear of very pale pinks, dark aubergine and brown tones that flatten the mouth and pile on the years.
Blusher can knock off the years in an instant so add a creamy blush into the highest point of your cheekbones to create the illusion of structure. Luminous blush will bounce light off your face softening the appearance of fine lines and adding a rosy flush.
Fountain of Youth: Restoring, Repairing and Rejuvenating.
FOY rejuvenating Night Cream, Moisturising Day Cream and Eye Contour Gel and Anti Cellulite Gel. Four beautifully packaged products, great consistency.
Moisturising Day Cream
FOY is designed for mature aging skin, basically anyone over the age of 25 but for me the day cream was not rich enough. My skin absorbs quickly and I felt that I needed to keep reapplying in order for my skin to feel fully moisturized.
Rejuvenating Night Cream
I liked the rejuvenating night cream as it was richer and left my skin feeling great all night long.
I decided to give the gel to a friend who has cellulite to test out and see if it made any difference on her skin. She tried it for a few weeks and said the smell was great, the texture was amazing. When applied the gel created a tingling sensation. No visible improvement was noticed after two weeks of usage. Everyone’s skin reacts differently so this does not mean the product did not work but maybeon her skin type it needed to be used for a little longer to see any results.
Eye Contour Gel
My FOY top pick has to be the Eye Contour Gel. As a sufferer of dark, itchy, tired eyes I am always looking for the perfect gels to moisturise the eye area and this was perfect! Out of all the products this is the one I would definitely invest in.

Summer was all about glowing skin but with the changing season, the trend is all about natural looking skin with a matte finish. You can achieve this “no make- up look” with a skin nourishing foundation moisturising the skin while still looking fresh faced and natural.
Maybelline’s Fit ME dewy smooth, matches’ skins natural tone while it hydrates skin for a smooth skin texture and a luminous and seamless finish.
Up your natural “no make-up look” with bold lips. Master the bold lip by making sure that your lips are hydrated and flake free. Be sure to balance out the rest of your makeup by concealing redness, keeping skin fresh, and using a subtle colour on your cheeks and an eye-opening mascara.
Top of my list is;
• Clinique Pop lip colour + primer in Berry Pop , Cola pop and Passion Pop
• Maybelline’s Colour sensational creamy mattes in Divine Wine, Burgundy blush, and Siren in scarlet
A natural look with beautiful rich lipstick shades, defined and lightly glowing cheekbones with wide eyed and sensational lashes for autumn.
Combine your look with a sultry warm and woody scent and finished it off with the new Essie collection and you are ready to rock n roll!!
