With winter drawing to a close, and the weather getting warmer every day remember that “spring cleaning” shouldn’t just apply to organising your home or office — it should also be a part of your spring skin care routine. The unfortunate truth is that while spring may beautify the outdoors, it tends to wreak havoc on skin. Environmental changes can irritate acne-prone skin, dry out or irritate, and tighten skin as well.
There’s quite a bit to consider when it comes to skin care in spring. Outside temperatures, environmental conditions, and how much time you spend indoors versus how much you spend outdoors can have a tremendous impact on your skin’s health. That’s why the changing seasons give you the perfect opportunity to switch up your spring skin care routine.
Remember To Moisturise!

With more sunlight, higher temperatures, and increasingly dry air outdoors, every trip outside could pose a threat to the state of your skin. Regardless of the season, moisturising should be an essential part of your skincare routine. If you find your winter moisturiser a little too heavy for spring, consider switching to a light lotion during the day and a gel formula in the evening. Keep items like lip balm and mini hand lotions on-hand, especially if you know you’ll find yourself outdoors frequently.
Prepare For Warmer Weather

While it’s vital to stay moisturised, increased heat and humidity can cause skin to produce more sweat, and as a result, more oil. For those with acne-prone skin, warmer weather often means clogged pores, irritation, and inflammation. You can tackle this as part of your spring skin care routine by opting for oil-free cleansers, toners, and serums. Water-based serums definitely help, as do products with lighter, natural ingredients. Also, as the seasons change and you’re outdoors for longer stretches of time, don’t forget to use broad spectrum sunscreen! If you’re going to be more active or you’re headed to the beach, consider using a water-proof sunscreen as well.

There are a number of natural, nourishing ingredients that can truly make the most of your spring skin care routine. However, skin care in spring is easy with products that address conditions like free radical damage and clogged pores.
In addition to natural antibacterial qualities, neem leaf extract contains bioflavonoids, potent antioxidants that can protect skin cells and prevent discoloration or signs of ageing. For warmer, sunnier conditions, shea butter protects skin’s natural barrier function, with lupeol blocking enzymes that degrade skin proteins. This helps reduce inflammation and absorbs UV radiation, maintaining skin’s firmness.
For an ingredient that combines powerful antioxidants with antimicrobial qualities, green tea extract can’t be beaten. While its antioxidants reduce free radical damage, green tea extract is also soothing, and can help reduce bacteria on the skin, preventing blemishes.

Minimal makeup has become a huge trend recently. Was it ever really gone? Of course, bare face with nothing on it is not the same thing. The point of minimal makeup is to enhance your strengths and hide the things you are not too happy about, such as redness, pigmentation or spots. But how do you achieve the perfect look that can deceive somebody into thinking you really have nothing on?
Take Care of Your Skin at All Times
This should go without saying, but we’ll say it anyway because how you wash your face is important. Especially if you have an event coming up and you’ll like to do minimal makeup – there’s a lot of space for mistakes. So use a gentle soap or a wash and a flannel cloth. You don’t want to use an exfoliant at this point, as it can bring out the redness in your complexion. Other times? Yes, but don’t overdo it, as physical exfoliation can damage your skin.
For the minimal makeup, you want to make sure your skin is soft, supple and hydrated. So there’s a step you don’t want to miss: moisturizing. Apply just a pea-sized amount of moisturizer all over your face. Apart from feeding your skin, this step will ensure that your makeup sits right there, but it won’t make your face look greasy. Just what we need!
Use a Foundation Made For You
Okay, maybe you don’t have access to a whole team making shades for a major makeup company, but you do have access to all the shades... so all you have to do is choose the right one. This is a crucial step but so many people are missing it and end up using the wrong colour, which ends up looking funny on their faces, to say the least. Invest some time into choosing the right foundation, and not only when it comes to color but texture as well. What do you want from a foundation, perfect coverage or just a little help, glowing or matte finish? When you do end up choosing the foundation – and remember, the colour of your skin also changes from winter to summer – remember to blend well. You’re not going for the clown look, but the minimal one!
Use Little Tricks for the Eyes
We understand if you’re a mascara lover who cannot get enough of coats, endless mascara coats! But minimal makeup is all about being... well, minimal. What you can do, though, to draw attention to your eyes, is curling your eyelashes. This can really do much more than just applying mascara, no matter how good it is. If you’re not too sure about your curling skills, or just don’t want to be doing it every morning, try looking into eyelash extension deals, as there are some really good ones that won’t take last pounds out of your wallet. By having eyelash extension, you get to keep perfect eyelashes for a long time, with no effort. Worth considering.
Conceal if Needed
If there are any problem areas after you’ve put on your foundation, reach for a good concealer. Sometimes there are no problem areas, but since the colour of our skin is not even in all the areas of the face, you might want to use it anyway. If you have any dark under-eye circles, swipe the brush under your eyes, where you’ve already applied the concealer, then pat with your finger to blend.
Don’t Use Bronzer
This might come as a surprise to bronzer-loving girls, but even though it can look extraordinarily beautiful, you will want to skip it when trying to achieve a minimal look. Minimal makeup is all about trying to work with what you’ve got already; you don’t want to mess with the natural colours of your face, just work with them to bring out the best.
But You Can Use Blush
A lot of girls have memories of their grandmothers telling them they look amazing when they blush a little, be it from embarrassment or running. So blush is allowed in the minimal makeup (minus the sweat from working out, or the overall feeling when you feel awkward!). but try making it as soft and close to your natural blush as possible. Cream blushes work best for the soft look you are trying to achieve. Apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks – so exactly where you would blush naturally – and blend until you have a colour that’s very subtle, but still noticeable.
Play with the Colour of Your Lips
Luckily, there is an abundance of shades that can work amazingly with the natural, minimal makeup. And a decade ago we thought nude is just one colour! You can use any nude shade you like, but you can also apply a little cream blush you just used on your cheeks to your lips – this will enhance their natural pigment, thus making them super lovely.
And Don’t Forget Your Eyebrows
Eyebrows can make it or break it – and by “it”, we mean your complete look. You don’t want them to have a very strong line. Actually, you want them to be natural, but with little help. So if your natural eyebrows are very light, blend a colour to give them a little shape. Bonus trick: use eyeshadow instead of a brow pencil. This gives you a much softer, more natural look.
And there you have it – a natural makeup look that looks almost as if you have nothing on your face, but so much different from an actual bare face, and so much better. Enjoy the look and the compliments you will be getting!

They say it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. Still, in order for it to be ‘about the journey’ one must do everything possible to ensure the journey goes swimmingly. That inevitably includes some careful planning in terms of packing, transportation, entertainment and several other elements that will make the journey the one to remember.
If you’re stuck on the idea front, we’re here to lend a helping hand and make sure your journey is as pleasant and luxurious as it can possibly be.
Comfort Like No Other
As we know, there are plenty of ways to travel in style. If your chosen means of transportation is the mighty plane, you might want to use your miles or save up for first class tickets. Nothing says ‘comfort and luxury’ more than being pampered with extra leg room, super-cozy seats and the best foods and a variety of drinks and snacks to make the time go by.
However, if your chosen method involves staying on the ground, ditch the trains and buses and make sure you get the comfort and the level of luxury you deserve. Long drives can be grueling, but they don’t have to be if you opt for just the right kind of vehicle. There is a good reason Ford is the most trusted and best-selling car brand in both Australia and New Zealand. Therefore, when in doubt, go for one of the Ford SUVs for supreme safety and sense of luxury. What is more, if you have a big family, this brand has got you covered with their line of 7 seater SUVs, so it’s space, safety and luxury all wrapped up in one.
Luxury All The Way
Whoever said great luggage isn’t all that important simply didn’t know where to shop. Elegant luggage that represents luxury itself is about more than just appearances. The perfect set, which includes matching suitcases and carry-ons, allows you to have everything in one place, neatly organized and yes, it also looks as good on the outside as it is amazing on the inside. And what is inside?
Well, only the finest clothing items you own. If you’re travelling luxuriously, you must be going somewhere equally lush, so be prepared for everything. Have a gorgeous evening dress, amazing culottes, a Breton top, killer shoes as well as more practical walking ones. A white button-down is a definite must as it will elevate your style even when you’re roaming the streets sightseeing, and designer swimwear is mandatory if your destination involves a beach or a pool.
If travelling abroad, make sure all your travel documents are packed together in gorgeous travel document wallets. Not only do they look sleek but allow you to keep everything well-organized and have a peace of mind and not fall into the passport-searching frenzy.
Look The Part
If you’re already in first class or having the ride of your life in one of the best cars out there, you simply have to have the looks to match. In the spirit of athleisure, feel free to put on your finest pair of sneakers and channel your supermodel athleisure goddess vibes. As for the rest of your outfit, a stylish white tee tucked into your stunning pair of breezy wide-leg trousers topped off with a statement embroidered blazer will make you look like a million dollars. All you need is that designer bag to complete the look, and of course, let’s not forget a killer pair of specs that flatter your face shape like no other.
What’s In The Bag?
So, your travel documents are all snug and together, so what else should your bag contain? First off, you don’t want to run out of battery on your phone, so investing in a high-quality power bank is the smartest thing you can do. It’s sleek, doesn’t take too much room and can charge anything from a phone to an iPad, so in case you’re travelling with kids, who will at some point require some digital entertainment, this will absolutely save your life. It also gives you the ability to listen to music or watch a movie, and before you know it, you will have reached your destination.
Noise-cancelling headphones are an absolute god-send, especially if you’re on a plane, so consider this little gadget as well. If you’re on a road trip, don’t forget your camera as you will want to capture these and numerous other moments. Bottles of quality water sitting comfortably in their compartment are always a plus, and if you add a couple of slices of lemon, and a few healthy snacks, it will be almost like you were at a spa.
Follow The No Makeup Rule
Whether you’re travelling by plane or car, avoid wearing makeup during travel. Planes tend to suck the life out of your skin, and makeup doesn’t help. Instead, make sure your bag is filled with pampering skincare goodies, such as a sheet mask – no better time like while on the road to place that baby on and replenish your skin. A tinted lip balm and a touch of mascara is all you need in terms of makeup.
Another absolute bag must-have is a facial mist as you have no idea how refreshing it is – it literally has the ability to make you look like you’ve just stepped off the runway and look gorgeous by the time you reach your destination. Hand cream is another must of course, and if you want that perfect touch of glow, Kora Organics Noni Oil is your perfect accessory, the one you should apply right near the end of your journey.
You’re all set. Now, go plan, shop, pack and enjoy this preparatory stage, as every journey should be pleasurable from the first steps to the finish line.

Applying a primer, a foundation, concealer, and for a huge amount of people, resorting to a technique called baking has become the norm in the face makeup department, and we haven’t even included contouring, bronzing and highlighting. Then we proceed to apply the rest of our makeup, and only once everything is sealed with a foolproof setting spray, are we ready to take that perfect selfie. It goes without saying that our go-to filters are an integral part of the process, and some people go as far as to actually adjust and change their features and erase blemishes and other imperfections. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong about playing with makeup. It should be used as a fun tool with which we express our personality, mood and creativity.
However, the one thing makeup should not be is a shield behind which to hide. The emphasis is, and always should be on nourishing your skin to perfection, so even when you’re bare-faced, you have the confidence not only to trust around town, but actually let the virtual world see you in your full makeupless glory. And how does one achieve that photo-ready skin? It takes dedication and just the right steps, but trust us, there is nothing difficult about it.
The Glow Prerequisite
Many women out there are still not convinced of the important role exfoliation plays in the process of getting that perfect complexion. Dead skin cells that stay on top of your skin don’t only prevent your skin from breathing, but also clog the pores and the result is lifeless, dull skin. This is particularly visible when using a camera, as you will notice that your skin has become opaque and doesn’t reflect light. In order to shed those dead cells and reveal the radiance that lies beneath, exfoliate two to three times a week. Everything more than that can actually cause irritation and inflammation of the skin, as overzealous exfoliation can actually strip your skin of the natural oils since the dead cells haven’t had time to surface.
All The Right Foods
The connection between the gut and skin is one that cannot be denied, and a dehydrated body can be spotted from a mile away as when you’re dehydrated on the inside, it reflects on your appearance as well. Insufficient water intake definitely takes a toll on your skin, makes it dull and dry-looking, so it’s vital to maintain your water intake high, and if plain water is ‘boring’ there are tons of water-rich foods that are delicious and that will, in the long run, pay off big time, so choose your favorites and don’t hold back.
Pick Your Tools Wisely
One of the most common mistakes we make is choosing the wrong skincare for our concerns, skin type as well as our age. Therefore it is paramount to rectify this mistake and how does one go about it? First, you need to establish what your skin type is. Then, you go and look for the best skincare products for your type, and if you’re dealing with acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation and other issues, choosing wisely is all the more important. Arm your bathroom cabinet with everything from the right cleanser and toner, makeup remover, serum, moisturizer, all custom-picked and personalized to cater to your specific needs.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was great skin. It takes good products and plenty of diligence to get your skin where it needs to be. This is why, rain or shine, you should never skip on your skincare rituals and proper steps, both evening and morning ones. The evening calls for a double cleanse, toning, overnight serum, moisturizer, and mornings are a tad breezier as you can get away with a quick wash, daytime serum and an SPF rich moisturizer, and you’re almost ready to go.
The reason nighttime routine is more extensive is because we usually have makeup that needs to be thoroughly removed at the end of the day, and let’s not even get started on the external pollutants that attack our skin constantly. In addition to that, it’s vital not to give up on your products if they don’t work magically within the timespan of two minutes – think of great skin as a marathon, not a sprint; do your best, take it slow and trust in your products as they will deliver. Everything good takes time.
Ok, once you’re skin is in spick and span shape, you can add a touch of makeup for that perfect no-makeup makeup look before snapping that perfect selfie, although when the time comes, you will be confident enough to go truly makeup-free. Sheer foundations and radiance-boosting tinted moisturizers are all the rage this season – the season of healthy glow, so snag one of those lightweight products and add an extra smidge of radiance to the skin. Apply some stick or liquid highlighter to the high points of the face, add a few coats of mascara and plump those lips with a touch of lip gloss and you are more than camera-ready.
Find that perfect light, hold the camera above you and point it slightly downward – this way you’ll capture your best angle perfectly, and snap away. Of course, feel free to adjust that pic to fit in with the rest of your Instagram feed in terms of saturation and exposure, but you will be pleasantly surprised with the fact that you don’t have to make any other adjustments. Happy snapping!
