Pretty Pleats PleaseI picked up an 'Aeroports DE Paris Lifestyle' Magazine at Paris airport on my way back from a beautiful and sunny family holiday in Montpellier last month. Usually, I don't end up even looking back at any magazine I pick up at an airport, talk less of actually reading it. Maybe it was something to do with the fact that I was passing through the city of fashion, which would be inspiring regardless of whether it was just a tourist literature guide.

I'm glad I was intrigued enough to manoeuvre through the magazine. It was in such leisure reading that I found something 'new' in summer fashion, in the style of Afro-centric; Issey Miyake Pleats Please (and Caroline Baggie. Read the July edition to see the pieces). Generally, I think that Afro-centric has become this season's motif. And no doubt it is a good choice because of its exotic and not-the-girl-next-door vibes that such a style can transmit in a European setting. Who would have thought that modelling a Brocante Heteroclite african mask would do well in a shoot comprised of Patrizia Pepe mini shorts and an all casual trench dress. Its surprisingly subtle the way style has emerged into unifying pieces that come from different shores of the earth. The Marabelle edition below reminds me of a Cameroonian wax print Ankara that came into my possession a few years ago. Feast your eyes on these colourful goodies.
