Summer time is here...and colours and patterns are out. We get a little lazy during the long winter months, pulling out dark and dull coloured wardrobe items. By the time spring and summer come around we are so hooked on dressing for the cold, that we forget to take advantage of seasonal trends that will bring a spark to the wardrobe. Here are just a few of my favourite pieces that are pattern-tastic. Enjoy!
Solange in Just Cavalli

This is one of my all-time favourite pieces of Solange. The beautiful and most convenient thing about a bold splash of patterns is that you get to worry less about which accessories to add. You've already made a statement, and all you need are the right clutch and heels to define your statement. Oh, and another thing, you have an excuse to go for a bold lipstick of any colour your heart desires.

Solange, London 2013

I remember growing up I was told never to mix different pattern styles together in one outfit. Well, this breaks all the rules on conventionalism! I think the key to rocking a cute number like this is to use the bare minimum or even no accessories. Solange's defined makeup and bright lips add cohesion and balance to this extraordinary blend of patterns.

Peter Pilotto, 2013

I love Pilotto's play on texture and dimensions in this latest collection. The use of straight lines and figure-wrapping folds gives a structured look that will flatter any figure. Normally, people tend to resort to black dresses to hide unwanted tummy or side bulges, but this piece can enhance the curves at the right places. Its amazing what patterns can do, given the right choice of patterns!

Giambattista Valli, 2013

My favourite pattern piece in Valli's latest collection.

Erdem is fearlessly pattern-centric. Patterns generally have a retro-feel to it, but these pieces scream art and have a somewhat renaissance feel to them. Art lovers, indulge!
