The thought and craftsmanship that’s put into making lingerie isn’t just to impress your significant other on Valentine’s Day or date night. In recent years, lingerie has moved from behind the curtains and beyond the confines of your home and towards a new expression of style. Here’s how you can wear your luxury lingerie sets, in and out of the home.

Wearing Lingerie As Outwear - The Bodysuit

This bodysuit is the most popular form of wearing lingerie as outwear and has taken the Instagram world by storm, particularly after the Kardashian’s were seen sporting this look. Bodysuits offer versatility and can be worn with almost anything to create a super chic look.

Pair your bodysuit with some light-wash blue mom jeans or skinny jeans and layer with a leather jacket and some heels for a super cute summer/autumnal fashion statement. As modelled by Kim Kardashian, go bold and pair your lace bodysuit with some tracksuit bottoms. Add a sporty bomber and some sneakers to create an athleisure vibe or pair with some heels for that true Kardashian look.

Go Sporty

Sport-inspired lingerie has made a huge comeback and is definitely here to stay this year. The revival of the 90s streetwear has taken the fashion world by storm and it doesn’t stop at lingerie. With the intention to encourage women into an era of confidence and comfort, the sport-inspired lingerie trend is made up of melange fabrics, logo embedded elastic bands and mesh detailing.

Velvet

Velvet has made a huge (and surprising) comeback in our wardrobes and so it should come as no surprise that it is going to make its way back into our underwear drawers this year. Plush velvet and velour lingerie sets are the epitome of luxury particularly the feel of soft velvet against your skin. Velvet lingerie typically comes in a pallet of dusky pinks and grey or rich and intense with emerald greens and peacock blues. The great thing about this trend is, just like the bodysuit, it isn’t restricted to the bedroom and can be worn on a night out or even better, on holiday.

Dare To Wear Red

Red is often the colour that springs to mind when you think of sexy luxury lingerie. The colour has been proven to stimulate emotions of passion and sensuality. Like a bull fighter, red attracts a variety of attention stemming from love to anger.

When it comes to women's lingerie collections, red is a staple colour and enables women to feel empowered and sexy. It is a strong trend in fashion and has been a large focal point of new season trends.

Bohemian

As the evenings begin to get lighter and we move closer to spring, the boho trend will begin to emerge. With beautiful rustic colours and earthy tones, the boho prints are inspired by festival fashion with an abundance of Aztec prints, embroidery stitches, ribbons and beading. It has a playful yet sexy feel to it and is the perfect companion for summer. Pair you bohemian bralette with some ripped denim shorts and Dr Martens.

Corsets

Since the 16th century, the corset has come a long way. Commonly seen on New York’s fashion catwalks, wear your corset over an oversized shirt and some thigh high boots for a super high-fashion look. For a super chic festival look, wear a corset over a loosely fitted dress and some cowboy or biker boots.
