If you've just put your animal print pumps at the back of the wardrobe for next autumn/winter you might want to dive in and retrieve them. That's because celebrity favourite – the animal print trend - is big news for spring/summer, albeit in a slightly different nuance.
Back in November you might have added subtle leopard print accessories in beige or tan shades to your outfit, whereas the look for spring/summer is a little more exotic. Miu Miu may have sent leopard print pumps down the catwalk, but over at Giambattista Valli animal print appeared in the form of tiger prints skirts. The message is that on the whole the animal print look has diversified. Yes leopard print in its many forms is still 'in', however, now it's joined by other lesser known prints such as giraffe, zebra and tiger – and when it comes to colours there are no rules. You might not see a pink leopard in the jungle, but don't be afraid to embrace the vibrant animal prints which come in a whole host of colours this season.

The animal print trend is something anyone can pull off simply by putting in a little thought. Of course it can be easiest to bring in a taste of the look by accessorising with a patterned scarf, bag or shoes, but this strong trend is really begging for a larger audience. That said - you don't want to look like some kind of one-woman animal sanctuary. To pull of the look with style and confidence try teaming printed dresses, skirts, or tops with plain black and white items. Look online for some of the most fashionable offerings, including those from Lipsy, where you can pick up printed dresses in summer brights and team with wedges to nail two trends in one. One note of caution however; just as shades denim don't mix nor do types of animal print. Don't be tempted to let your tiger and zebra print meet in one outfit – the outcome well may be as horrific as a real-life encounter in the jungle!
