Curly Hair Festival

Over the weekend, i had the pleasure of attending the Curly Hair Festival at the ILEC Conference Centre in London. I had previously attended a number of the Natural Hair Week events in London so I was excited to see what the founder of the iconic event Vinna Best had in store following the recent rebranding from Natural Hair Week to Curly Treats Festival rebranding.

After years of attending hair events, i’m always astounded by the number of natural haired lovelies that attend and in this, i’m sure that they were not disappointed by the offering in this instance. Throughout the day guests were treated to hair and health workshops, demos and interactive discussions, a fashion show in celebration of Black Girl Magic and of course some of you favourite brands such as Cantu beauty, Creame of nature, Mixed chicks and Softn’ Free were in attendance as alongside some amazing independent brands. Popular influencers such as MahoganyCurls, Lekoia Lee and the girls from Curlcuture were also on deck taking part in workshops, discussions and meet and greets. I especially loved the fact that men were catered to with a dedicated afro men’s hub which offered free shape-ups, beard maintenance and skin care advice for the man in your life. For mini curlies, there was an empowHER lunch and a children’s corner which provided fun interactive activities and storytelling.

AFRO HAIR & Beauty LIVE 2017

Over the weekend I attended AFRO HAIR & Beauty LIVE 2017, at the Business Design Centre in Islington which in its 36th year still managed to draw a large crowd.

You don’t know anything about it, AFRO HAIR & Beauty LIVE is an annual hair & beauty event in London which hosts stalls of many different products for all types’ textures and even some body products. They also host a variety of workshops live demos and fashion shows.

I have religiously attended the show for the last few years so I knew what to expect and was excited to discover some new hair products.

Despite my planning to get there early to avoid the rush ... Let’s be honest that never happens it was lovey to see so many eager faces and try out so many products.

This year AFRO HAIR & Beauty LIVE welcomed Afro Man, which catered to the grooming, hair and lifestyle needs of the man in your life which included skincare by Bump Patrol and S-Curls beard grooming range by Lusters.

Afro Hair & Beauty LIVE 2015

Ever since I was young Afro Hair and Beauty LIVE was the place to see and be seen.

Having long since moved from Alexandrea Palace to it new home at the Business and Design centre in Islington the land scape of the event has some what changed, black women are now embarrassing their natural beauty, braids afros, twist outs dreads Yesss honey that’s what’s up1 not shade to the weave and relaxer wearers out there Afro Hair and Beauty LIVE 2015 is dedicated to the celebration of choice, whether you rock the natural, relaxed or a weaved look, you will find a product or service to suit your needs!

And indeed there was. The main stage had a jam-packed line-up of dancer’s singer’s demonstrations and catwalk shows to entertain the eager crowed and workshops took place throughout the day.

Venders included the usual suspects ORS, Cream of Nature, Mixed Roots Keracare and Beautiful Textures which included demonstrations from the hair whisperer herself Felicia Leatherwood.

WAHLS’ famous Battle of the Barbers competition was in full effect and saw barbers from across the country competing to be crowned KING BARBER and the Avant Garde competition displayed an array of eclectic creations.

Creative fashion catwalk show feature designers such as MAM MAW, ASO GLOBAL, PIECES BY KEKE, I-KOLLECTION, HONEY MALAOLU and if you looked closely you may have noticed some of the finalist from Top Model of Colour rocking the runway.

Now I don’t know about you but one of the main reasons I go to Afro Hair & Beauty Live is for the new products! I want to know what is hop and popping and I was not disappointed this year ORS featured two new ranges that were added to their portfolio Shealicious and Monoi Oil range and I was also told by the reps that they had made changes to the Curls unleased range.

I was also able to talk to the reps from new kids on the block CANTU which sold out of its Deep Conditioning Treatment Masque during The Natural Hair Week so you know I had to get my hands on it!

The Natural Hair Week London 2015

The Natural Hair Week delivers informative seminars from qualified experts, interactive debates, creative hair demos and a platform for hair and beauty brands to sell products and services whilst connecting with their target audience.

The Natural Hair Week was launched in spring 2013 because it was felt that there was a lack of events celebrating natural afro hair and beauty across the UK.

The brainchild of Vinna Best of OfficiallyNatural and Diane Hall of I Grew It Long The Natural Hair Week has since seen over 3,000+ attendees in five major cities in the UK
I had heard good thing from friends that had previously attended The Natural Hair Week so I promised myself that this year I would attend the London event, which was held at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.

The venue was very nice and consisted of three large rooms, one of which housed the works shops and seminars while the other two had the many venders which included ORS, Motions to name few as well as product and hair styling demonstrations.

I was disappointed that I was unable to attend most of the seminars due me getting there quite late in the day but people I spoke to told me that they really enjoyed them.
I really enjoyed my experience at Natural Hair Week and I got to meet up with many natural hair bloggers and vloggers who I had been following for some time which was nice.
