Tama Ra Soiree Makeup Look

Last Saturday saw myself and my talented team working our magic at the 2nd edition of Tama Ra Soiree. The event is held every first Saturday of the month in the heart of London at the Holiday Inn, Bloomsbury.

Guests are treated to a night of music, art and live entertainment with an all you can eat Caribbean buffet – yummy!

Fashions Finest teamed up with with CEO Of Tama Ra Soiree Hazel Jordan to bring a showcase of fashion at the event. Each event features a different designer with their latest collections modelled by models in a catwalk showcase around the grand luxurious event room.

My job is to design a suitable makeup and hair look to match the designer that month and their wonderful collection.

Last Saturday we had the pleasure of working with Helen Woolams of Hellavagirl and her sequinned collection. Glitz, glam and glamour are just a few words that spring to mind when thinking of Helen’s collection.

To match her designs I knew I had to create a look that was as equally stunning as her glorious gowns. GLITTER!!

I chose glitter as the main focus for the makeup. Sparkling colours to match the sparkling sequins in the designs – perfect! I talked to my team about picking colours from the designs and incorporating one colour into the glitter eye makeup. Keeping the rest of the makeup minimal so that the eyes really popped with the dresses, I chose a natural nude lip with lots of gloss to enhance the glamorous look even more. Fresh dewy slightly highlighted skin and a pop of blush is all that was needed for the skin. Hair was kept simple popped back into a bun or pony or left natural.

S/S 2015 summer make-up trends – TIP 2

I bring you my 2nd hottest summer make-up trend that you can achieve in minutes….

Trend two…. Soften those lips

By soften I don't mean keeping those luscious lips of yours soft, but of course that goes without saying.. Always use a lip scrub twice a week and balm daily throughout the day, but what I mean is keep those lipstick colours slightly smudged this season. You want to create a soft focused look on the lips.. Perfectly straight bold lip line is out and slightly smudged long wear looking lips is in.

SS 15 tip 2

Trick

Apply your lipstick how you would normally, don't concentrate on creating the perfect straight line as that's not required for this hot look, instead apply quickly. This may be enough to create the smudged effect or if it's not simply take a cotton bud and roll inwards along the lip line. This will diffuse the edges making them look smoking hot and smudged. Simple.. Now you're ready to show off your beautiful lips in this seasons hottest lip trend.

Get That Classic Red Pout

Red lipstick is a classic, always has been and always will be. The best make-up looks worn by Marilyn Monroe in the 50's always came with that classic red lip, the sexiest most glamorous looks today come with the classic red lip. To me as a Make-up Artist it signifies passion, glamour, love, class, high end and definitely sex appeal!

In my job I hear a lot people saying "red won't suit me" but that's where they are wrong. Red suits everyone, just like blonde hair suits everyone, the trick to both is to fully understand your own colour tone and of course experiment.

Warm Skin Tones

If you have a warm skin tone complexion you don't want to choose a red that will clash with your warm delicious skin. You need to opt for red tones that are 'warm reds' and not 'cool reds'. Look for and experiment with shades of 'orangey reds'; so look for, deep brown based reds, golden reds, tawny reds, tomato reds, warm reds and orange reds. Hold the lipstick up towards a light (natural daylight is best) and these colour tones will show through on the lipstick.

Cool Skin Tones

If you have that lovely cool tone to your skin then a warm red will be far too harsh against your complexion. You need to opt for 'pink red tone'. So experiment with red lip colours that when held up towards the light you see; pink; berry, blue, plum, blackberry, purple and brick red.

All Skin Tones

If you're lucky enough to have a cool skin tone and tan to a fairly warm complexion in the summer and you are looking for a red lipstick that will suit both cool and warm skin then opt for a real pure 'telephone box red'. This shade of red is the only red that is suitable for both skin tones. Maybe if you're a new make-up artist and you have a tight budget and want a nice classic red then a good red lipstick to buy on a budget is 'Loreal Colour Richie Serum in shade True Red'
