Eyebrows play an important role in the appearance. Their shape, fullness and (most frustratingly) symmetry all help to define and frame the face. And thanks to celebrities such as Cara Delevingne, full brows are all the rage.
I generally do not like the idea of drastically changing my appearance but when a friend, Kim, trainee Microblading therapist, asked me to be a model for her Microblading course I hesitantly said yes. Now I was not really blessed with full eyebrows but loved them none the less!! So although hesitant I agreed to undergo the treatment and was wonderfully surprised at the outcome. Because I now have eyebrows that you can actually see. So I am happy!!
So what is Microblading
Microblading is different from the permanent cosmetic tattoo as it is a more natural option that offers a semi-permanent result. The treatment is done with a pen-like tool that has 11 tiny needles at the tip. The therapist starts the treatment by numbing the skin with a numbing cream and once the skin is numbed she applies cosmetic -grade eyebrow dye. She then sweeps the dye pigment with her tool onto the brow area. The whole procedure takes two hours and you do feel a slight sting but no real pain.
After the first treatment you will have to wait for a period of four weeks to apply the second treatment. Now this is just to fill in any gaps and add a second color for dimension.
After the first treatment, your brows appear very dark and it is a bit of a shock if you are not used to full dark brows. After a couple of days of treating it with Vaseline, there is a slight scabbing but once healed you will see a definite but subtle difference.
So yes, I am defiantly loving my new eyebrows!!
The nice part is, that it is a low maintenance treatment, as after healing you can treat them just as your normal brows and no special care is needed other than staying out of the sun as this will fade the brows quicker. Therapist do recommend that you go back after one or two years for a touch up treatment.
