H&M are introducing 16 new denim styles made from recycled cotton from textiles collected in the Garment Collecting initiative in H&M stores. The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry, by limiting waste that goes to landfill and saving on natural resources used in the production of fabric.
This initiative by H&M’s is to create a closed loop for fashion “Creating a closed loop for textiles, in which unwanted clothes can be recycled into new ones, will not only minimize textile waste, but also significantly reduce the need for virgin resources as well as other impacts fashion has on our planet, “says Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of H&M.
Since 2013, H&M customers worldwide have been able to bring unwanted clothes from any brand into its stores as part of its Garment Collecting Initiative. So far, over 14,000 tonnes have been collected globally.
Right now, H&M is able to use 20% recycled cotton from collected clothes, and is investing in new technology to increase this share without losing quality. H&M has a target to increase the number of garments made with at least 20% recycled fabric by 300% compared to 2014.
The new denim pieces, which will be available in-stores and online in September, are all made from recycled cotton and organic cotton, with three styles for women ranging from skinny to distressed ‘girlfriend’ jeans, plus a denim jacket, flared dungarees and a denim jumpsuit.
For men, there is a zip-up denim jacket, two distressed slim leg styles, and a pair of joggers in coated denim.
The kid’s pieces include a zip-up hoodie with cute animal ears, a stretch jeans sequined at the knee, and a street style hooded shirt, with distressed jeans.

It is time to update your morning beauty routine for winter
The last thing we want to be thinking about is winter with its dark and gloomy day’s But with the change in outside temperatures and the use of indoor heating can leave our skin feeling dull and dry.
We might not be supper excited about winter, but just as we start the “summer skin” prep early we can start making small changes now to prep our skin for winter.
Start the day with a glass of water
Hydrate and moisturise from the inside out, is an important part of your beauty routine for winter.
Starting your day with a tall glass of lukewarm water, with lemon juice and cayenne pepper will not only hydrate but also flush out toxins and give you an energy boost.
Start your day with exercise and an ‘instant facial’ instead of coffee
Now I know that coffee is the number one kick start to any ones day. But your coffee might give you a morning energy boost but it can dehydrate and age your skin and with the change in temperatures and in door heating already dehydrating you skin why add to it. So switch up your morning coffee with green tea. A cup of green tea before your morning exercise will also boost your metabolism.
Kick it up a notch and get your blood flowing in the morning with gentle exercise, like yoga. For the “instant facial” dunk your face in cold water which will instantly energize you and leave your skin brighter and tighter.
Switch to a Gentle Cleanser and continue to exfoliate
Steer clear of store bought shops with all it skin drying chemicals and diy your own.
Why not try; Oil cleanse
Olive oil is packed with nutrients that will hydrate dry skin and boost skins moisturizing levels. Also the best make up remover.
All you will need is;
• extra virgin olive oil
• wash cloth
Massage the cleanser into your skin, and then soak a wash cloth in warm water to remove.
A good scrub does wonders to increase the absorption of skin moisturisers. Try this homemade clove and sugar body scrub
1/2 cup brown sugar
3-4 drops clove essential oil
1/2 cup jojoba, almond or olive oil
Add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Store in a covered jar to use all over your body for extra exfoliation, concentrate on all those rough patches like your knees and elbows.
Use a richer moisturizer
Cooler temperatures means doubling up on moisture for skin so you will need to start using richer moisturises for face and body. Make sure that your lotions for face and body is fragrance free because artificial fragrances may be irritating to your skin. Remember that moisturizers are best applied to wet, slightly towel pat dry skin as the moisture from the water will help to absorb lotion faster into skin and keep it moisturised all day long.
You might not see it but the sun is still out in winter so you should always apply a sunscreen after your moisturizer to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
Enjoy a good portion of beauty foods
The red, orange and yellow shades of many autumn foods are high in concentrations of antioxidants especially vitamin A and vitamin C and beta carotene, which is great for glowing, clear skin that’s protected from free radicals.
Are you a Star Wars fan? Then you will love this, American cosmetics brand, Cover Girl is launching a collection of Star wars make up that is asking you to choose between the light or dark side.
The collection is a collaboration with designer Pat McGrath and will be available in September and will include 10 mascaras, six lipsticks and three nail polishes that relates to the good or bad characters in the Star wars series.
According to an article on Style Cater- http://goo.gl/s0n9p8- each mascara tube will feature a Star Wars quote, with mantras from the Light Side, which is the waterproof version and the Dark Side, the regular mascaras.
Looks a bit futuristic for me but if you are a super fan of Star wars, and Lupita Nyong’o who can be seen in Star Wars: Episode VII, I am sure you will do what you can to get your hands on it.

Women are doing what? Microwaving their armpits!
Really! Well yes, according to an article on Byrdie.com, first published in Marie Claire @ www.marieclaire.com
I have heard a lot of crazy things but this by far is too much for me, microwaving your under arms.
It is not an actual microwave but a laser gun–like device, by the medical company Miramar Labs.
“It's the same wavelength, but the delivery method, depth of penetration or range, and safety profile are totally different,” Dr. Snehal P. Amin, a board-certified dermatologic surgeon, told Marie Claire.
The device heats up the levels deep under your skin, where the hair root and sweat glands are located and subsequently destroys them. This is the only FDA-approved device of its kind, and the company has reported over 40,000 treatments this far.
Microwaving my armpits, need to think about that one for a minute, but with over 40,000 treatments I am sure that there are beauty crazed women that will invest in it.
But you know what they say, “different strokes for different folk” Would you microwave your armpits?
