The History
Micellar water is a daily solution to remove makeup and impurities gently thanks to the micelles. Micelles are microscopic spheres that can attract impurities and oily materials that are incompatible with water. This is how makeup and sebum remain on the cotton wool, while skin stays fresh and hydrated when using micellar water. Bioderma Laboratories formulated the very first micellar water back in 1991 with its Sensibio H2O, a non-rinse and dermatological safe technology. Before its invention, dermatologists would have recommended a two-step cleansing routine involving cleansing milk and toner which was often too aggressive on sensitive skin. Hence, the original Sensibio H2O revolutionised the way people cleanse their skin every day.
Sensibio H2O, The Formula
What makes Bioderma Sensibio H2O so delicate is its eco-biological formulation. The formula has pH 5.5 which is close to the pH of the skin, making this micellar water skin compatible. Sensibio H2O is formulated with highly purified water through 9 stages of purification to ensure it is microbiologically safe, high quality and free from endotoxins.
Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O is made from only 10 ingredients, it has 3 biomimetic sugars (rhamnose, mannitol and xylitol), which help prevent the inflammatory process. The Sensibio H2O has just 1 surfactant (cleansing agent), which closely mirrors the same composition of the skin lipidic barrier.
