Taipei Fashion Week A/W 2025 On Circular Fashion
The future of fashion took centre stage at Taipei Fashion Week. With the theme “Regenerative – Circular Fashion”, the Taipei showcase offered a greener vision of the industry's future.
The small and forward-driven capital of Taipei has much to teach about the future of the industry and the possibilities offered by the circular fashion model.
Taipei Fashion Week A/W25 On Circular Fashion
The small fashion capital of Taipei is where the future is engineered. Backed by a world-leading textile sector and a legacy of technological advancements, Taipei is proving that the future of fashion is not only sustainable but also deeply rooted in innovation and fabric technology.
A stage for Taiwan’s emerging designers, Taipei Fashion Week also acts as a showcase for the country’s renowned textile and semiconductor industries. Known as ‘Silicon Island,’ Taiwan plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing and global supply chain of semiconductor chips, an industry that drives much of the country’s economy, including the fashion sector. This season’s showcase, in particular, highlighted the intersections of fashion and advanced material innovation.
Taipei Fashion Week is supported by local tech companies, reflecting the growing convergence of fashion and tech. From environmentally friendly yarns to digital pattern making and 3D prototyping, Taipei is offering a window into the future of what we wear. This season's emerging designers have been working in close collaboration with mills, ensuring that the collections on the runway are not only visually striking but also exemplary of Taiwan’s leading innovation in fabric development and commitment to regenerative design practices.
The theme of regenerative fashion spoke of the Taipei event's ongoing commitment to sustainability. The visual identity for the Autumn/Winter 2025 fashion week hones in on the symbol of circularity, with the slogan ‘Fashion: An Endless Relay Race.’ Traditionally a linear industry, Taiwan exemplifies how fashion can be transformed into a closed-loop system which focuses on endless renewal. The journey of a garment has been represented through this season's promotional video, bringing us from conception to use. Yet, its life does not end in disposal but in reintegration into a circular fashion economy. The baton is passed from textile production to designer, to wearer, and back again to be reused – engaged in an endless relay race of creation.
Emerging Designers At Taipei Fashion Week A/W25
After the opening show centred on the core concept of circularity at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei on the 27th of March, Taipei Fashion Week featured six Taiwanese designers each collaborating with a textile company: Claudia Wang X Lealea Group, DYCTEAM X Far Eastern New Century Corporation, GIOIA PAN X King Whale Corporation, oqliq X Shin Kong Textile Co, UUIN X New Wide Enterprise, WEAVISM X Hermin Textile co.
The calendar offered runaway shows, a fashion forum and an international buyer's fair, concluding on the 30th of March with a public-access fashion market and sustainability workshop, proving how innovative ideas can and should circulate beyond the industry sphere.
With technology driving both aesthetic and material innovation globally, Taipei Fashion Week has again offered this season an alternative to the traditional dominance of Paris, Milan, and London. The city is paving the way for a future in which fashion is smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable.
