Joey Essex Presents His First Designer Collection: Dafdae
Richa Kapoor
Actress, Model, Socialite, Fashion Icon and Fashion Designer Richa Kapoor is the epitome of classic fashion, in the southern Indian city of Chennai. Her brand (Jai Maa and Eagle fashions) represents energy, passion and empowerment of "today’s woman" to walk the red carpet of life.
Her style is classic, bohemian, funky and chic with a lot of appeal. She sees her creation as feminine, loose, relaxed, casual and charming. She creates timeless collections with an attitude, yet free spirited, whimsical with earthy sensuality, reflecting comfort and individuality.
Her creation is about mixing the old with the new, trendy with classics and vintage, with loose cuts, ruffles and layers. Her creations are often said to be inspired by nature and the fabrics she prefers are natural; cottons, cotton tusser, hand woven fabric. She displays intricate handwork in her designs which are uniquely embedded with handwork, beaded embroideries, rich antique pita and ethnic thread giving her creations a rich and classic feel with hints of retro and boho chic attached to them.
“I see my designs as an expression of my aspirations with limitless boundaries, always ahead in time.”
Made By Keji
My latest collection, #madewithlovebykv, puts sustainability at the heart of fashion. Being rooted and connection with my hometown, I am able to source supplies and fabrics from local businesses in Kano, Nigeria. I'm constantly inspired by the textiles found in small local businesses- it's almost certain you won't see it anywhere else. Being able to support these small enterprises and give back to my community definitely drives what I do.
Where did the name for the collection come from?
Being a part of the whole making of the collection; from sketching to sampling, means that every piece has my customer in mind. What makes the KV person comfortable, bold, and unique? Personal touch sometimes gets compromised when making multiple pieces and we sometimes get too focused on following a theme or following trends that do not necessarily reflect our customers needs.
New features in the latest collection include:
• Real model size for guidance
• Plain colour fabric options available to customise your order
• Easy-to-access Size chart
