Yes, it's still the middle of August but autumn will be here pretty soon.
And there's only one item of clothing really worth getting excited about for next season. Real or faux? It doesn't matter when fur is concerned, as long as it looks and feels good. With the autumn/winter 2014 catwalks teeming with fur coats, hoods and jackets, this is one fashion staple you don't want to miss out on.
Frida Giannini at Gucci, gave us a fantastic collection packed full of pretty pastel colours and big, furry coats. Sheepskin and Mongolian lamb skin; these on trend pieces looked great paired with skinny leather trousers and knee high boots. One things for certain, you won't be cold in these Gucci fur coats, as they completely insulate your upper body leaving you toasty warm. Whereas other Italian designers in the form of Dolce and Gabbana, Armani and Roberto Cavalli went all out for fabulous fur. With a magical Fairytale theme, Dolce sent majestic fur hoods and capes down their catwalk while Cavalli (as always!) went for high voltage glamour, favouring fur stoles and long coats to go with his cool, hip collection.
However it was Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi who really set our pulses racing with his take on fur. As modelled by Cara Delevingne, huge, thick fur hoods were elegantly displayed before our eyes as well as snuggly fox fur coats in an array of colours. Absolutely divine. Lanvin and Alexander McQueen at Paris Fashion Week also established fur as a serous trend for fall 2014. Alber Elbaz at Lanvin went for ladylike elegance with fur stripped against grey coats while Sarah Burton at McQueen told a dramatic story through her clothes. With a Scottish highland theme, fur coats were given a Gothic update in black and brown, yet looked equally amazing as those seen at Donna Karan and Altuzzara in New York.
If that's not enough persuasion to invest in a new fur coat for winter, I don't know what is! Whether you go for ladylike or grungy, light or dark, make sure you wear it with style.
