Geometric patterns, feminine a-line silhouettes and brightly coloured single breasted coats – Raf Simmons wowed with his latest Dior collection at Paris Fashion Week.

With models sporting heavy black eye shadow by make up artist Peter Philips and a long glossy ponytail down their right shoulder, models paraded down the specially designed catwalk at the Louvre with a sense of chic, Parisian cool. There was a strong 60's theme, with swinging fur mini dresses, loud prints and John Lennon style sunglasses as well as killer (and rather skin tight) thigh high leather boots in shocking pink, tan and ash grey. Collars were sharp and pointed giving way to pristine pressed shirts and animal print pieces while the iconic Miss Dior handbags were casually shown off for the flashes of cameras.

As this was an autumn/winter collection, coats played a fundamental part. They came loose and long with a streamlined look in a number of bold colours and styles – duster, fur and trench coat. Some of the shorter styles looked as though they had leapt straight off of Twiggy in the 60's and into the 21st century with a special Dior twist. Jumpsuits were also present, in khaki prints but with more outrageous colours which was an interesting spin on such a classic and well known pattern. And with stars Kanye West, Lorde and Dakota Johnson sitting on the front row, creative director Raf Simmons pulled of these dramatic pieces with ease and elegance.
