Givenchy Pre Summer 2016

Ricardo Tisci used the bustling city of London as his backdrop for Givenchy’s pre spring/summer 2016 collection, and what a collection it is!

Packed full of bold leopard print coats, jackets and skirts in yellow, black and min green, metallic skirts with Spanish frills across the bottom and plenty of girly peplum dresses; Givenchy have everything you could possibly want for a perfect summer wardrobe.

Modelled by string of supermodels, including Mariacarla Boscono, Candice Swanepoel and Frankie Rayder, everything in this collection is oversized and stands out a mile away. Take the huge buttons on the round jackets, for example, or the tessellating star print on a clingy maxi dress, the large pleats in the skirts, which sits at a comfortable length just below the knee. There is a definite luxurious 70’s theme running throughout the collection, with lovely silk scarves tied at the neck, loose, layered silhouettes, pristine white suiting and a kind of carefree spirit, reminiscent more of Africa than London with all the khaki colours and animal prints on display.

Also, the soft mint green, which is clearly the main colour of the collection, sits nicely with a variety of colours including blue denim, beige and white.

If anything, this was a collection for the busy, city woman who scoots around the city in her flash car. There was a sense of sporty couture in there too, in regard to the shapes and fit of some of the jackets. But everything as usual with Givenchy was effortlessly clean and stylish.
Overall, a delicious collection that we only wish we could afford!
