For her Victoria by Victoria Beckham pre-Spring/Summer 2016 collection, staged earlier this week, the designer took inspiration from the circus and all the bright colours, interesting patterns and excitement which surrounds it. There were plenty of shift dresses with bold, geometric cuts and bright patterns reminiscent of the roof of a huge circus tent. Primary colours stood out against contrasting black and white while some pretty floral patterns also crept onto designs too. Peplum tops and skirts which dropped nicely to the knee had elegant frills which was a nice detail for easy summer dressing while mustard, baby blue and white were the key colours throughout.
This Victoria by Victoria Beckham collection was probably one of the most feminine and delicate yet, despite the loud associations with the circus and fairground iconography. Since the VB denim line merged with the diffusion Victoria line, the designer has ploughed forward with her inspirations and ideas for future collections, explaining to British Vogue why she feels so strongly about her fashion line.
“The Victoria, Victoria Beckham category has always reflected the other side of my wardrobe and this season has further developed with the integration of the denim collection and a broad range of separates for the first time," she exclusively revealed at the launch of her pre-spring collection. "I focused on creating pieces that are easy to wear but still feel special. There is still a sense of fun within the collection and I am excited to see it to continue to develop and evolve into what I believe is a unique proposition for my customers wardrobe."
There are plenty of fantastic pieces which would slip into any woman’s wardrobe with ease, especially the beautiful floral shifts with an intricate a-symmetric twist or the sporty, oversized black jacket – perfect for a mid-season cover up.
Overall, a playful and fun collection, reminiscent of care free summers at the fairground and childhood memories.
