Irish Milliner Sarah O’ Rourke is the owner of Saraden Designs, founded in 2016. Saraden Designs is a unique company as each Millinery Design is constructed using a handmade fabric. This fabric making technique was developed whilst Sarah studied Visual Arts Practice Sculpture, in I.A.D.T, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.
The fabric is called Saraden Fabric. It cannot be replicated once constructed, making each design bespoke to its owner. There is often speculation as to how Saraden Fabric is constructed but Sarah will be keeping a tight lid on her niche.
‘Wearable Art’ is a term which is used to describe each individual creation. This is due to the use of mixed media. Sarah likes to avoid traditional methods and instead combines Fashion, Art and Design together using mixed media and her own brand fabrics.
Sarah is an Member of The Design & Craft Council of Ireland and a Professional Member of Visual Arts Ireland.
