With Glastonbury calling all music lovers for an unmissable weekend, festival outfit inspiration is a hot topic, as hot as this festival season's #1 must-have.

Festival-goers are getting ready to pack their playful essentials. Still need some outfit inspiration? Here is how to style a bikini, a real must this season.

Bikinis: The Festival Season Must-have

Google searches for ‘festival outfit ideas’ have increased by +144% in the last month alone and by +274% in the last three months.1 The socials are a great source of inspiration but fashion experts are sure there is one item that cannot be missed in any festival luggage. It might not be what you were expecting to pick...

Emily Blount, Head of Product at Lounge, has shared her advice for anyone heading to a festival this summer: “Whether you’re blessed with some glorious sunshine, or the festival is a washout, swimwear is the perfect base for any festival outfit."

Bikini tops are not just for swimming – they can make a real fashion statement and also act as a practical foundation for your ‘fit. If you’re too hot, the bikini top provides the coverage and support if you do to wear alone as a top just remember your SPF!. Bikinis always prove popular with celebrity festival lovers – Charli D’Amelio is just one of the many who turned heads going down the swimwear route at this year’s Coachella."

Emily continues: “Bikini tops also work well in any weather, as they’re waterproof, a little rain won’t bother them and you’ll be kept feeling comfortable so you can concentrate on enjoying yourself. Whether you’re going for a more boho vibe, or you’re all about the denim, bikini tops also compliment all the 2024 festival trends."

How To Style Your Bikini For A Festival Outfit

Emily has shared her expert tips on how to style swimwear as part of this year’s biggest festival fashion trends. Find the style that matches your vibes and those of your festival destination.

Festival Trend #1: Cowboy Core

Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter has really set the scene for the fashion world this year, and festival season is the perfect time for this trend to make its mark.

To channel the cowboy core aesthetic, team a neutral bikini with denim shorts, statement cowboy boots and of course, a show-stopping cowboy hat. True country styles are having a moment right now, but you can also switch it up a bit and create more of a ‘disco cowboy’ theme if the festival you are heading to leans into a more upbeat, dance music style.

Festival Trend #2: Boho Chic

Boho chic, at a festival, groundbreaking right?

While it might not be the most surprising when it comes to festival fashion, boho chic is always a winner, and it is a style we have seen come back time and time again. With so much boho inspiration to take from this year’s ‘garden of time’ theme at the Met Gala, we are ready for a summer of fashion that resembles the early 2000s.

Bohemian style is all about looking effortlessly chic. Teaming a bikini or crop top with wide-leg trousers and a crochet cover-up is an easy festival ‘fit, that looks as cool as it feels.

Festival Trend #3: Double Denim

A trend that works well with both Cowboy Core and Boho Chic, double (and sometimes triple) denim is back with a bang.

Denim on denim was a hit at this year’s Coachella, and we are expecting UK festival-goers to take major inspiration from this.

Denim shorts are a festival staple, but skirts, waistcoats, shirts and jackets all work interchangeably to create the perfect double denim look. You could even find a denim-look bikini to really tap into the trend!

Emily adds: “Whatever your style, bikinis are a great option for festivals – and when they’re reversible it makes packing an even easier task!”
