Karen Gold
London based designer Karen Gold graduated with a Law and Business Management degree in 2007 from London Metropolitan University. Karen Gold is noted for her signature style of designing sharp tailoring of classic styles that evoke radiance. Her style became immediately apparent in her first womenswear collection in 2015.
Her desire to regain her power as an individual and to break free from the norm led her to attend a stitching course at ASOS Stitching Academy with Fashion Enter and there she found the freedom to express herself through fashion leading to the creation of her first signature collection of Jackets with interchangeable lapels that didn’t confine you to one style. In 2017, the designer debuted her menswear collection under her eponymous brand label.
Karen Gold’s collections include women and men’s ready-to-wear usually in limited editions. Her pieces are set to make you look and feel radiant by updating the classics for a timeless trans seasonal wardrobe through the fit, the fabric and the style. Karen Gold’s collections have been shown at various seasons at London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, New York, Afrimma Dallas, Source British Los Angeles and Scotland International Fashion Festival where she received an award of excellence.
In her quest for sustainable fashion, Karen Gold launched a new handmade collection of aspirational styles in 2018. She prides herself in her ethical handmade collection made from an inimitable fabric handwoven from cotton and silk by local artisans in Africa. This edit significantly tells a story about the strength, perseverance and resilience of women in Africa, a story that will transcend to unborn generations thereby keeping the art alive. As a result of her sustainable practice, Karen Gold awakens Africa’s authenticity and power through Africa’s women and with every piece sold, Karen Gold gives back to the community of weavers empowering them on the dynamism of their heritage and culture.
Karen Gold’s handwoven collection adapted the designer’s eco-friendly ethos and have since expanded into classic styles for everyday wear. Also, her commitment to sustainability is evident throughout all her collections which is part of the brand’s ethos to be a company that is responsible and transparent.
