Models were strutting their stuff on the catwalk and showing off some beautiful and funky garments at the Clothes Show London, a fashion and beauty extravaganza held at Earls court, London, 25- 27 June 2010.

I managed to catch up with a few of the models after the fashion show to find out what life is like as a model.

Model: Orenitha
Hometown: St Catherine, Jamaica
Modelling Agency: D1 Models

Spotlight Moment: Orenitha was the only black model on the catwalk and it was great to see someone representing models of colour. She provided an edgy and elegant feel to the runway and is a model with lots of experience who has also modelled designs at Graduate Fashion Week. She says "I have so much fun being on the catwalk and meeting new models everyday!"

Hometown: Russia
Modelling Agency: Profile

Spotlight Moment: "I did a business degree; I didn't have any hopes of being a model. If someone told me I was going to be a model, I would have laughed right in their faces! I decided to test the waters and enter a beauty pageant and I won, my modelling career grew from then on."

Top Tip from the models

Katya and Orenitha work full time within their agency as they believe their role is so time consuming and life changing. The models stated that modelling is not just about looking good on the outside but feeling good on the inside as well. They attend the gym, go to countless meetings/castings and sometimes suffer from lack of sleep due to late nights.

If you want to pursue a career in modelling its best to do it full time and you need to give modelling 150%, in order to succeed.

Do your research; know the industry inside and out, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Don't start when you're young. Make sure you have a something to fall back on such as a degree, qualification. Beauty will fade but knowledge will remain.
