Screen Nation was founded approximately seven years ago by film producer Charles Thompson, MBE who was on hand to greet all of the attendees.

The Screen Nation Foundation recognizes the talents of individuals within the Black British film and television profession. SNF has involvement with many writers, actors, directors, and producers. The motto for Screen Nation is "Rewarding Excellence :Celebrating Diversity"
I had the pleasure of attending the Screen Nation Nominees Announcement event on Wednesday night. The event was held at Revolution in London. The atmosphere was classy and had and elegant setting. Everyone came out in their best to support this movement and acknowledge Black British talent within the UK. Guests were treated to refreshments and musical selections to keep them entertained until the announcements began.

The nominations were announced to the large group, (many were members of the industry) who all cheered as there favourites names were heard . Twenty-two awards categories were announced. The nominations where provided by ITV news reader Charlene White and Walking the Dead actor Wil Johnson. Both were energetic and kept the crowd very entertained through their delivery. Out of the nominees Noel Clarke (A personal fav of mine), Nonso Anozie, Lorraine Pascal and Angela Griffin were included.

Several Special Honorary Award Categories were also announced:

Sir Trevor McDonald OBE -Edric Connor Inspiration Award
Clarke Peters,-Outstanding Contribution Award
Amanda Foster- Vanguard in Stunt work
Burning an Illusion- Classic Movie Award
The Real McCoy- Classic TV Series Award

Following the nominations the guests were invited to network , mingle and dance the night away to 90's rhythm and blues and pop hits.
