With July just around the corner, it’s fair to say that summer is well and truly upon us.

While some of us are throwing our bikinis into a suitcase and heading off on our summer travels, others will be using the warmer weather to work on a few home decoration projects.

If your home could do with injecting a little sunshine into it, then this summer’s fashion trends will certainly do the trick. Whatever your budget, here are a few home decoration ideas that will guarantee to make your humble abode look stunning.

Go organic

Mother Nature continues to be the inspiration for many home décor projects as we enter into summer 2015. Consider implementing natural greens and browns into your colour scheme – this brown fabric headboard from Bedstar really gives that organic feel. Alternatively, consider table ornaments with real live plants, which make for great centrepieces.

Night and day

Summertime is when we never want the sun to stop shining, even on those cooler evenings, so why not add a little life into your garden with the aid of some of some hanging lanterns? These lightweight, brightly coloured little rays of sunshine can be hung above an outdoor dining area, giving you the perfect dose of sunshine day and night.

Give upcycling a go

There’s no need to break the bank when it comes to giving your home a new lease of life – just consider making the most of what you’ve already got! Take a look at your old furniture and consider how you can make it breathe again. Try painting an old chair, for example – you can do this guilt free by using environmentally-friendly paints from Earth Born Paints.

Funky florals

This is one summer trend that’s never going to go out of style, and with gorgeous products from designers such as Cath Kidston, it’s no wonder we continue to go back to floral to give our homes that summery feel. Consider investing in a new pair of curtains, which will really bring the room together and can be complemented by other floral accessories.

Heavy metal

For a design that’s ultra-modern, you may want to embrace the metallic trend that is making its way into homes up and down the country in 2015. Golds and silvers can be mixed tastefully providing they are in moderation – this can be done with light fittings, table settings or ornaments.
