To coincide with the launch of their new book – Mid-century Modern Living – Mark and Keith will talk about how they discovered mid-century design and culture, and how it has influenced their work. From the 1951 Festival of Britain, via Chelsea boutiques of the 1960s, to the icons of Scandinavian design, they will offer their personal take on mid-century style. Along the way, the design duo will share some of the stories behind Mini Moderns’ most popular designs and highlight a selection their 20th century design heroes.
Mid-Century Modern Living, (£20.00, Kyle Books, released 28 March 2019) shows you how to create a timeless mid-century look in your own home. Using their years of design experience, they explore the cornerstones of mid-century style through colour, pattern, materials, curation and how to bring it altogether to create your own look.
Mini Moderns was established in 2006 by London based designers, Keith Stephenson and Mark Hampshire. The brand specialises in applied pattern across a range of products including wallpapers, fabrics, enamelware and stationery. The duo’s influences encompass mid-century British textiles, ceramics and collectibles, whilst their passion for social history, literature and travel has helped shape their design ethos, which they describe as creating ‘pattern with a story’. Their collective design experience spans fashion, product and interiors, as well as corporate branding and design.
