Valentines Day - Thinking Out Of The Box

heart 3109937 1920 result
Sometimes it’s great to think outside of the box a little when it comes to Valentine’s Day. If your loved one is expecting the traditional gift of a card, flowers, chocolates or a cute cuddly something, surprise them with a gift equally as lovely, but with a little twist on the traditional theme.

A great way to tell your loved one just why they are so special to you, without worrying about ‘finding the right words’ as you will get plenty of help as you complete the book. A lovely twist on the Valentine’s Day card theme.

Chocolate Making And Tasting Experience

Why not treat your beloved to a whole senses experience with chocolate, rather than just buying them a box of their favourite!
There are several places who offer chocolate making and tasting sessions, including Red Letter Days, available all over the UK, a must buy if this is something you know your loved one would adore!

Silky PJ’s

ASOS have a wide selection of PJ’s to choose from, and they are great for both summer and winter nightwear, as well as small and lightweight for traveling with. Nothing says sensuous and luxurious like silk!

A watch is also a remarkable Valentine’s gift. Why not surprise your partner with a minimalist watch from Nordgreen?
They’re a Danish brand that has both women and men’s watches and they work directly with Jakob Wagner, a very well-known designer in Scandinavia.
Apart from an exceptional design, they offer a ‘Giving Back’ program. Meaning that buying one of their watches you donate a percentage of the watch’s price to one of their 3 partner NGOs.
From £144 you can get a bundle which includes a watch with two extra interchangeable straps of your choice. Buy them online here for men and for women!

For every guy (or gal) who loves their beer, nothing can say ‘I love you’ better than a selection of interesting and delicious beers they may never have tried before, like this gift box from Beer Hawk. Most of the gift boxes are priced around the £20.00 mark, so won’t break the bank either!

Romantic Night In Gift Set

You could make a romantic night in gift box yourself, and fill it with things you and your partner will enjoy, or you can buy a pre-made box like this selection from Aromabar and available on Amason at under £15 each. Either way, your significant other will appreciate the thought that goes into accommodating both parties on Valentines Day.

Spring Summer Wardrobe Essentials

The reasons we love Spring/Summer are endless. The longer days, bright evenings and sunshine - what’s not to love? Another fab aspect of the season changing is the excuse it gives us all to do a bit shopping! It’s finally time to bring our bikinis out of storage and pack away are jumpers, but what are the hottest trends for the coming summer months?

Well, if you’re planning on adding some fresh, spring/summer pieces to your wardrobe in the next few weeks, these following pieces are a fab place to start…

Pastel Heels

Finding the perfect pair of summer heels is a harder task than you might think! There’s often so much choice, that is can be tricky to know where to start. This year is all about pastel colours, moving well away from the standard black and tan, and toward some brighter, prettier varieties. The block heeled sandal is huge this season also, making these powder blues ones from KOI footwear bang on trend.

Gingham Shirts

If we’re honest, Gingham is a bit of a marmite pattern - you either love it or you hate it. Whichever camp you sit in, this season it’s going to be everywhere. Pretty gingham shirts, mainly in bright reds and blues will feature heavily in most collections, so if you were ever going to try this picnic blanket inspired style, now is the time. The one pictured is from Asos and it incorporates another hot trend for the season - ruffles, so it’s a real winner.

Embroidered Denim Skirt

Always a Spring/Summer essential, the denim skirt is a favourite year after year . The fresh twist we’re seeing across this staple this season is the addition of embroidery! While we saw tonnes of embroidered designs across our jeans and handbags in the winter months, this summer it’ll be all over the denim skirt. We love this simple one pictured from Topshop. Teamed with a simple blouse, this look will get you through SS17 in style.

A Chic Backpack

Gone are the days that backpack where considered uncool and nerdy - they’re now basically the most ‘trendy’ accessory you can own. Still super convenient, last year saw the fjallraven rucksack become the new ‘must-have’ bag among the hipster masses, but if this isn’t really your thing, try a more sleek and sophisticated style this year with a cute leather design. The one pictures in from Mango and, let’s be honest, it adorable.

 Summary

This summer is all about bright designs and out there patterns. Clashing and mixing up different patterns will be big, as will vibrant colours. With these simple essentials, you’ll be able to mix and match your wardrobe to create some edgy, but super on trend looks.

A Maid Of Honour On A Budget

IMG 3914

I have been asked to be the Maid of Honour at my cousins wedding and I am over the moon. I was told not to spend too much on my outfit as she was sticking to a tight budget. Apart from getting my outfit together which had to be red I was told, I also was in charge of getting the party boxes to entertain the children during the evening.

I decided to purchase the party boxes from Little Party Parcels as I could get them pre-filled. The boxes would be silver and filled with magic sets, stickers, mini doodle pads, colour swap crayons and Bufferfly gliders. My one duty was sorted thanks to Little Party Parcels.

The red dress I purchased was from ASOS and was an absolute bargain at £15.50p in the sale. It was a Missguided Lace Overlay Bodycon dress. I fell in love with it; it was perfect to wear at the beginning and the end of the evening for the party.

Next I needed some shoes, I found some Mid Heel Barely There Sandals in white, which were New Look shoes but I had found them at ASOS. The shoes were £17.99p. I was so pleased with myself for managing to keep the costs down.

All I needed now was a piece of jewellery to set my outfit apart from all the rest. A pearl necklace would be perfect I thought. I was lucky enough to be gifted one from Schmuckwerk. They sell all types of beautiful jewellery including silver and glass lockets. I will be buying all my jewellery for special occasions from there. I cannot wait to show my pearls off at the wedding, they will add some much needed class to my outfit.
