Get Your Man Out Of His Style Rut

Unlike us, fashionista, our better halves does not always care that their style and look says a lot about them and that looking good makes you feel good and confident about yourself.

I believe that there are 2 types of guys, the ones that does not care about their personal style and image and secondly the ones to whom personal style and grooming is everything.

Dating a guy in the first category, can be a nail biting experience for any on-trend stylist fashionista.

Because you want your man to look good when you are going out but you also do not want him to feel like you are trying to change him.
So what is a girl to do? Do you subtly nudge him by sneaking in new pieces into his wardrobe that you would like him to wear and suggest he wears them every time you go out or bombard him with images of well-dressed men and not so subtly tell him that, that is what you would like him to wear and look like when you go out.

If you have taken it upon yourself to be your man’s personal stylist, here are three basic rules to teach him.

Get The Fit Right

Men want to be comfortable in what they are wearing, so “fit” is not so important to them, as they might find that wearing things that are too tight are for females. So get rid of all those baggy jeans and oversized t-shirts and any items that are outdated. Get him to buy pieces that are more fitted to his body types and shows of his sculpted body (that is if he works out, if not get him to start going to the gym and eating healthy).

Formal pieces, like suits, nothing looks worse than a suit that hangs of your man’s body. Get it tailored for him. A well fitted suit oozes sexiness on any man.

fit

The same applies to casual pieces like jeans, t-shirts and shorts, you do not want to go to tight but when something fits right your man will look like a million dollars even when the items he is wearing is from the high street.

It's All In The Details

Start by finding colours that match his skin tone. When you guys are out shopping hold different coloured t-shirt up to his face and watch what the colour does when you hold it up to his face, does his eye brighten up and does it bring out his features or does the colour make him look washed out. Choosing the right colours that matches his eyes, hair and skin tone can make a huge difference in your man’s appearance.

Shoes, belt and ties these are his finishing touches and gets noticed a lot more. So if he is going for a casual jeans and t-shirt look, pair it with a great pair of loafers and a good belt. As with women, accessories completes any outfit, so you would want his accessories to bring his look together, taking him from 0 to 100 in seconds.

Head to Toe Grooming

Start by introducing him to a cleansing routine, because as his lady, you know that good skin start with cleanse and moisturise.
This does not need to cost a lot of money, the L’Oréal for men range are very good and affordable and if you can get him to start introducing this into his daily routine, he will defiantly see the effects in the long run.

Well-kept Hands And Feet
A manicure and pedicure every now and then is never a bad idea, as a man with long finger and toe nails are not a pretty sight and can easily deflate his well put together look. Along with well-kept hand and feet goes clean and well cut hair and beard (if your man wears a beard).
Do not overdo it on the fragrance, I am sure that your man likes to smell nice and you like it when he smells nice. But do not let him overdo it on the fragrance, so much, you do not want then everyone else to walk out as soon as he walk in because the smell is to over powering. The golden rule is two or three sprays is more than enough.

Mud Mask

Introduce him to clay masks, getting him to apply a clay face mask once a week will improve the texture and tone of his skin, as it removes all unwanted impurities such as oil and dirt.

MUD MASK

You will never really be able to change your man but you can teach him that looking good is not such a bad thing because there is nothing better than showing off your well-dressed confident man.
