Planning the perfect Christmas party outfit can be tricky. Here are fashion trends from the runway to spice up your Christmas party look.

The inspiration for your next Christmas party look comes directly from the catwalk. Get ready to shine with these playful and glam trends.

Fringes

Fringes became a popular trend in the 1920s, the flappers' era, and they have been trickling in and out of fashion. Fringes made their huge comeback in 2016 but eventually faded away. In 2021, the trend has returned from the rise of social media. Celebrities and influencers such as Tess Holliday and Bella Hadid have adopted fringes in a glamorous and appealing form. Pick fringes made of pearls, rhinestones or beads and pair them with a simplistic outfit to add a glamorous touch. To channel quirky vibes, find a fringe jacket, skirt or purse.

Balloon Sleeves

The balloon sleeves trend popped up in Spring 2018, on the 2020 runway, and it has carried onto 2021. There is no denying this trend adds a romantic and regal look without you even trying to. Experiment with different balloon sleeve shapes and size as they are an excellent statement piece to spice your wardrobe up.

Disco

Sparkles and glitter made their way onto the runway and shops. Versace SS21 and Tom Ford SS22 flaunted sequins, exaggerated metallic ruffles and shimmering fabrics. Search for a sequin and glittery co-cord if you wish for a dazzled look. For a subtle disco look, buy glittery shoes or a sequin top.

Backless

cream racer neck open back chain detail midaxi knit dressPh. missguided.co.uk

The cheeky, sexy and attention-seeking 1930s backless trend made its way back to the mainstream by celebrities such as Beyonce and Hailey Bieber with jaw-dropping backless gowns. Backless garments are a subtle statement that creates a long, elegant silhouette. There are endless ways you can style your backless dress. For an elegant look, add jewellery to cascade down your back. If you want business at the front and party at the back, find a fully open back.

Fishnet

PRINTED NET BODYSUIT DRESSPh. avinci.co.uk

Fishnets tend to spring up on the runway season to season. In 2016 fishnets started to appear frequently. This construction, rather than pattern, has transformed from simple fishnet tights to layering over clothes to add texture. Look for a fishnet top to layer under dresses and tops. Decide if you want to add fishnets to add an extra edge to your ensemble.

Silver and Metallic

CUTS LIKE ICE CHAINMAIL DRESSPh. dollskill.com

WD628T 399 ROSETTA TINSEL 2 IN 1 DRESSPh. allsaints.com

We have seen silver in many designer runways for the last ten years. Think, for example, at Chanel and Louis Vuitton FW21 collections. This trend gives us a luxury vibe combined with mystery and retro chic. The silver trend encourages us to mix colours, patterns, and textures with silver. Silver captures the attention, so make sure you pick out a good quality silver. Opt for a silver dress for a total glam look or a silver mini skirt, belt and shoes for a modest version.

Beauty in 2022? Tia Roqaa's exclusive predictions

No crystal ball is needed to predict the biggest beauty trends for next year! We have Tia Roqaa, beauty expert and founder of beauty subscription box Roccabox, doing the job for us and sharing her expertise.

2022 Beauty industry trends - Ph. Ron Lach, PexelsPh. Ron Lach, Pexels

What has the beauty industry in store for us in 2022? Roccabox founder and CEO, Tia Roqaa, foresaw the hottest beauty trends we will see and wear next year.

Tia knows well which products and beauty trends will be hot next and you should not be surprised by her foresight. Tia Roqaa is a real beauty expert, a woman who turned her passion for cosmetics and experience in PR into a curated and elegant beauty experience. In this blog, Tia delighted us with her 2022 beauty predictions.

Themes

Inclusive beauty and no-gender makeup. Ph. Rodnae Productions, PexelsPh. Rodnae Productions, Pexels

“Inclusivity across beauty is really gaining pace, which is great to see. From race to gender, identity to ability, the beauty scene is finally responding to our very unique sets of needs and we’re seeing certain brands becoming genuinely more inclusive – rather than just talking the talk. It’s a conversation consumers have been having behind the scenes for a while, and it’s great to see brands are joining the narrative. At Roccabox we champion and support this movement, having already worked with some beauty brands such as Jecca Blac – a gender-free make-up collection that’s truly authentic and innovative in its brand mission of inclusivity.

Trends

“There are plenty of trends within the clean beauty movement that show signs of becoming even bigger and more exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing waterless products grow and innovate. Waterless products are products where the water has been removed which make them more sustainable. Water within a product requires a preservative to prevent bacteria from forming, so immediately you’re taking away the need for this preservative, making a cleaner product. You’re also reducing the need for plastic packaging, making them naturally more environmentally friendly. The result is a formula that is more potent as it’s undiluted.

I also love the growing trend for emo-beauty: products that have an additional impact on our emotional wellbeing as they perform their beauty function. It’s a beauty space with so much potential: in fact, we’re planning a limited edition emo-beauty Roccabox for 2022. I also think our fairly recent interest in scalp-care and our shift in perspective on the importance of treating our scalp for better hair health will continue to grow.
”

Trends To Leave In 2021

TikTok will remain a fun outlet for showing off beauty tips but I don’t think the beauty trends emerging on the platform will continue to hold much weight. They provided a fun distraction during the 2021 misery of lockdowns but I think in 2022 as lives get busy again we will leave those behind.”

Blue Light

Blue light skin care and 2022 beauty industry trend - Image courtesy of RoccaboxImage courtesy of Roccabox

“Just as we came to understand how the sun damages our skin, and now protect it daily, it’s time to now consider other ways our living environment is impacting our skin and how to better protect it. We work in such a technological era - we’re sat in front of multiple screens for most of the day - so it’s time to adapt our skincare to protect ourselves from its potentially skin-damaging effects. Blue light is now proven to increase inflammation, prevent collagen production, and increase hyperpigmentation, particularly in darker skin tones. Both mainstream and smaller niche brands have already brought out some great protective products but I think we will soon start to see blue light protection added commonly to our daily moisturiser – in the same way, SPF is often added. I also think additional protective products, such as serums that offer blue light protection will become far more available, with brands offering us greater choice.”

Nostalgia Beauty

Lipglass - '90s nostalgia beauty and glossy lips. Image courtesy of RoccaboxImage courtesy of Roccabox

“The emerging makeup nostalgia trends seem to be all about being as extra as possible: I think it’s a natural reaction to us all socialising again, and wearing all the make-up we sent into hibernation for a year! In 2022 I think we will see elements from different decades that favour high-octane glamour, look-at-me colour and playful looks. So for example high-shine plastic-looking glossy lips will be huge next year: a look that is borrowed from the ‘90s, ‘80s and the disco ‘70s. High-shine nude, lacquered red, vinyl berry tones: we’ll see it all next Spring. Victoria Beckham does a great line in super-glossy clear lip gloss, which we’ve been raving over at Roccabox, as does Fenty Beauty. I also love MAC’s range of lip glosses, including their classic Lipglass.”

Less Is More

“For many reasons, we’re seeing consumers looking to scale down their skincare and reduce the amount of products they use. We’re craving a ‘less is more’ approach to skincare right now and I believe this will continue. It’s going to call the beauty industry into creating more streamlined product lines, for sure, but just because we’re favouring a more simple and more gentle approach to skincare doesn’t mean we don’t expect to see the same results. So I expect brands will create more hybrid multi-functional products and will create cleaner formulas to reduce the chemical load we’re applying to our skin.”

Shopping Online

Shopping online and 2022 beauty industry trends. Image courtesy of RoccaboxImage courtesy of Roccabox

“The online beauty shopping experience has definitely improved - online beauty retailers really had to up their game over these last 18 months and now shopping for both make-up and skincare online is no longer as challenging as it once was. Ingredients-search tools are always a handy way to navigate skincare purchasing and a good starting point for skincare shopping. Sites with visible independent reviews of products play an important role too, as customers often want to know how other consumers found the product in real life.

Colour-matching can be tricky online but I’ve seen some really innovative and effective colour-matching options on independent brand websites – the ‘find my shade’ option on ILIA’s website for example is particularly effective: it cleverly gives examples of hair and eye colour, as well as undertone, to help you determine your most seamless skin tone match.”

In 2022, the beauty industry will continue along the path toward inclusivity and holistic wellbeing seen during the pandemic. How Roccabox will reflect the new state of things in 2022? We asked Tia again...

Tia Roqaa, CEO and founder of Roccabox. Image courtesy of RoccaboxImage courtesy of Roccabox

Roccabox 2022

“We’ve confirmed some of my personal favourite brands for 2022 – including Murad and Oskia. We have some incredible limited edition boxes in the pipeline – I can’t reveal much but they include some brand exclusives with a handful of hero brands that I think many of our customers will be really surprised to see! Our monthly boxes will continue to introduce our customers to really effective, results-driven skincare brands. This will include cosmeceutical brands, such as Doctors Formula, which we’ve already started to introduce our customers to – their products are second to none for seeing a genuine change in your skin. We know our customers might not otherwise have discovered this type of beauty brand, or they might have been reluctant to invest in their products given their higher price point, so we think what we do and whom we introduce customers to is really important.

We also plan to introduce our customers to the skincare ingredients that are set to be huge in 2022 – niacinamide is one that springs to mind – with ingredient-focused products that our team of experts have chosen for our boxes because they truly live up to the hype. I’m also really excited about the themes of our boxes for next year: I don’t want to give away any spoilers but the concepts we’ve chosen really tap into what customers are looking for in their beauty purchases right now.”

Meanwhile, In This Month's Roccabox...

Milly Zero and rapper Ransom

Milly Zero certainly did not shy away from colourful and quirky pieces. She wore a miscellaneously coloured knitwear set, consisting of a cropped jumper and high waisted miniskirt. To confer the outfit some edge and youthfulness, she matched it with a pair of Knee high chunky black combat boots, thereby creating an offbeat like contrast to an otherwise cute and very girly outfit. Hairstyling and accessories once again went more into the girly direction with space buns on each side, tied in by ‘90s inspired scrunchies and colourful hair clips, adding a pinch of retro in there. A small black handbag with imprinted smiley faces complemented the look. To adapt this style, you can throw together different knitwear pieces, the more colourful the better. It does not necessarily have to be a brand-new set, neither does it have to be the exact same pattern. Be creative and try to work with pieces you already own, in order to create something truly unique.

www.instagram.com/milly_zero

Her boyfriend rapper Ransom appeared much more toned done, not stealing her spotlight in real gentleman manner. The upper body was kept light with a basic white-collar shirt and crème white jacket. A pair of Kaki toned trousers fit together with simple white, green, blue embellished chunky dad trainers. The real highlight for his outfit was a pair of small black tinted rounded sunglasses.

Birkin Boy

Influencer Israel Cassol, aka ‘Birkin Boy’ on the other hand had no intentions of toning it down. He deliberately drew everyone’s eyes with a vibrant pink oversized longline button up shirt. Simple grey short trousers, tennis socks and white trainers made it a fashion week worthy look. Of course a Birkin bag could not be missed, as he is notorious for his vast collection. This time he opted for a classic beige smooth leather model. A pair of sunglasses was a given with all the hustle and bustle of the photographers, press, and people eager to get in.

Lindsey Peel

Actress Lindsey Peel, best known for starring in the show “Webcrawler” kept it simple but surely not boring. She opted for an all-black look. Black high waisted cigarette pants, a long blazer, sharply pointed shiny black slingback kitten heels, and a lace bodysuit with a plunged V-neck, which optically elongated the torso while simultaneously highlighting certain areas of the body. Its additional straps on each side in corporation with the romantic lace created a beautiful playfulness between cute and seductive. Classic and chic jewellery in muted gold nuances , such as a small pair of hoops helped keeping the focus on the wonderful bodysuit. Black is notorious for being remarkably flattering and suitable for all kinds of occasions. Sometimes this is all that is needed and playing it safe is rewarded.

Sophie Tea

oznorMBPhotographer Peter Hogan

The established London based artist Sophie Tea is very much immersed into feminine shapes, with her latest empowering artwork collection ‘WOMEN’ being all about female nude silhouettes and torsos of different shapes and sizes, wherefore she decided to turn up in a skin-tight full bodysuit, by Valentino outlining her own silhouette, similar to what her recent paintings illustrate. The black and white seamless arrow pattern and high collar made it all the more interesting. Blue metallic square block heels rounded it off to be a fantastic bold outfit choice. With such a stunning centre piece she honestly does not need any jewellery, the only thing standing out in this regard was a thin metal belt, which consisted of diverse little signs like stars and shellfish, all being loosely wrapped around her waist. So, what do you take away from this one for your own styling? If your main piece is a stunner take it easy on the accessories and do not be afraid to embrace your body, no matter what size you are because all shapes and sizes are beautiful!

Indira May

oznorMBPhotographer Peter Hogan

Musician Indira May decided upon calm and muted pastel nuances. A leather blazer in '90s model off duty attire created coherence and connection with a pair of chunky black lace up platform boots. In stark contrast to that she wore a mint coloured knit mini playsuit, which incorporated subtle ruffles all over, a collar and V-neck cut out were further emphasised by a chocker length pearl necklace. Half of her hair was bound into a ponytail with a velour thick ruffled '90s scrunchy. This halfway up halfway down approach to hairstyling bestowed it a messy but still obviously styled look, comparable to the likes of 'no make up make up trends'. A pale citric yellowish ruffle bag alluded to last season's Botega shoulder pouch models and finished the singer's statement look.

www.instagram.com/indiraamaay

Annaliese Dayes

oznorMBPhotographer Peter Hogan

Fashion presenter Annaliese Dayes wowed in a matching pastel-coloured high waisted extreme wide leg culotte (almost making it look like a dress on first glance) and button up blouse set. It featured muted rosé, baby blue, lilac, and grey accents on a soft white ground. Huge square shaped golden/copper tinted sunglasses spread retro vibes, while the clear heeled shoes picked up the light shade of the set again to create a connection between upper and lower body. Like so many of her fellow attendees she also opted for a ‘90s designer baguette bag. Jewellery is kept to a minimum, with middle sized hoops, featuring a little pink rhinestone, an arm ring and watch on the wrist and that is it. Working in the industry herself this lady obviously knows how to dress for the occasion!

www.instagram.com/annaliesedayes

Nicky Hambilton-Jones

4FF48596 3147 4FC6 8FF2 78578F76BE0F resultPhotographer Peter Hogan

Last but not least, presenter and stylist Nicky Hambilton-Jones proofs her profound fashion knowledge by combining a long white dress filled with forest green abstract geometrical patterns with orange accessories. Green certainly is the new black this season! Hence, lots of attendees could be spotted with different variations of green handbags, accessories or monochrome fits throughout the ranks next to the catwalk. Hambilton-Jones opted for a more subtle inclusion of it in her dress. It created a gorgeous silhouette by cinching the waist through a bondable belt, letting the fabric fall freely to slightly flare from thereon. The collar and sleeves and button-down middle seam bestowed it a working business woman touch, while colour and pattern, as well as the flowy texture of the material made it effortlessly feminine and chic. Nicky's quirky and playful accessorising turned it into a delightful summer dress, matching and reflecting the sunny weather that day. Perfectly in sync with the last days of this year's summer season she certainly was wearing one of our favourite fashion forward looks.

www.instagram.com/nhjstyle

In the end we saw some overlapping and recurring trends like monochrome fits, all things green, baguette bags, and chunky black combat boots. Nevertheless, each of the above displayed public figures presented an individualistic and creative take on these, leading to some beautiful, awe inspiring outfits. Fashion is all about expressing oneself, be it your personality in general or your mood on the respective day. This mentality was clearly reflected in our VIPs looks and the confidence they sported them with. Hopefully, you were able to take some styling tips from these examples for your own unique looks. We are eager to see what they will turn up in when it is time for our next show in February 2022.

A/W21 denim trends, era of freedom

There is one staple piece in everyone's wardrobe that literally made history. There is one true fashion must-have that crossed generations, yet never felt outdated. You can have a guess. It is denim.

A/W2021 denim trends Very.co.ukVery.co.uk

Although timeless, denim jeans marked a drastic change in everyday fashion this year. Jeans are our flag of freedom. We have seen it throughout 2021 and these autumn/winter trends are not an exception.

The humble workers' denim passed through centuries and generations and, as such, it is a trustful mirror of our times. Maybe it is the new post-pandemic lifestyle or today's feminist stream but 2021 waved 'goodbye' to super skinny jeans to welcome (back) baggy forms to put everyone at ease. Here we go, exploring the 5 top denim trends for this autumn/winter season.

1 Mom's Jeans

Mom's jeans, A/W 2021 denim trends - MissguidedMissguided - Riot Highwaisted Clean Mom Jeans

Ten years ago, moms had a certain 'uncool' factor. Could you believe mom's jeans were going to conquer a big slice in stores' displays and people's shopping charts? High-waisted and relaxed, mom jeans are not anymore for leisure time and gardening but a comfortable ally now that home is our office.

2 Upcycled Jeans

V by Very sustainable jeans, A/W 2021 denim trendsV by Very - Sustainable Slim Cut Jeans

The call to make something for the planet translates into sustainable jeans. Whether they are made from vintage stocks, eco-consciously produced, recycled or thrifted by you; green jeans have a richer story and feel lighter on the environment.

3 '70s: Flared Legs And Flavours

'70s and flared jeans, A/W 2021 denim trendsRI Petite - Amelie Flare Dane Jean

Jeans as a flag of freedom could not but take big inspiration from the '70s. The 'peace & love' decade revival is in flared silhouettes, patterns and patchwork. Added to the upcycling trends, looking for a true vintage makes a trip to second-hand stores definitely more adventurous and rewarding.

4 Baggy Jeans

Baggy jeans, A/W 2021 denim trendsNew Look - Noosa Baggy Jean

'The wider, the better', this is the motto of the year. Mom jeans already offer some room for our real shapes, but this season we can exceed as we look back at the '90s. Think about rappers and skaters' styles when looking for our next pair of denim. The must-have jeans for the last bits of this 2021 are super baggy and slouchy. Young and unapologetic with added distress for an extra touch of street style.

5 Light Jeans

Light wash, A/W 2021 denim trendsLevi's - 501® Crop

Nothing says 'denim' more than an original Levi's 501. The American brand invented the real jeans at the end of the 19th century but it proves to be always fashion-forward. Here is how Levi's reinvented its 501 this year.

Denim signature colour is blue but we can set free from the tradition with pale blues, neutrals and even white.

These are only 5 of the top denim trends that we can rock this autumn/winter season but the list may go on and on with pleated jeans, straight cuts and low-rise waist. This year's array of denim as seen on Very.co.uk says it clearly: denim must make you comfortable in your own skin. 2021 jeans are a liberation, liberation from strict and unrealistic ideals proposed by the media for many decades. It was time to change, the evergreen denim made it.

How to grow your eyelashes and eyebrows naturally

Fuller eyebrows and thick eyelashes are very fashionable these days. Although you can find many products on the market that promise you dreamy results, you can try natural homemade remedies first before browsing the drugstore aisles.

How to grow eyelashes and eyebrows naturally

A hot beauty trend seen on magazines, beauty blogs and Instagram is sporting fuller brows paired with feathery eyelashes. To achieve naturally full results, you can try these three well-known homemde remedies.

How To Grow Your Eyebrows With Olive Oil

Olive oil for eyebrow growth and benefits

Olive oil is a God-sent ingredient for your beauty because it contains vitamins A and E, which will increase the growth of your hair. Vitamin E nourishes each hair strand, while vitamin A promotes the production of natural body oil, which helps hair development.

How to: apply a drop of olive oil on the tip of the finger and then gently massage the eyebrows, leaving it for a couple of hours and then rinsing with a face cleanser. This step can be part of your beauty routine at least once a day to see its effects in a matter of a few weeks. Need more intensity for your eyebrows? You can always opt for a brow tint for more colour and drama at the end of your treatment.

Egg Yolks For Healthy Eyebrows And Eyelashes

Hair is made of a protein known as keratin, and eggs are an excellent source of proteins. Moreover, egg yolks are also a good source of biotin, which stimulate the growth of your eyebrows and eyelashes. As you can spot in many haircare products for hair loss and hair growth, keratin and biotin are two natural allies.

How to: separate the egg yolk from its white, the beat the yolk until the consistency is uniform. Next, apply the mixture to your eyebrows with a brush and, for the eyelashes, a clean lash wand. Leave it for 20 minutes, and then wash it off with warm water. This homemade recipe can give you a faster growth rate if you use it twice a week. Be careful: use it in moderation because egg yolks can clog your pores and cause acne.

How To Grow Your Eyebrows and Eyelashes With Milk

Milk has well-known benefits for your skin and hair. Milk is used in many dermatological products because it contains casein and serum, two vital proteins that stimulate the development of healthy hair.

3 natural remedies to grow your eyelashes naturally

How to: moisten a cotton ball in milk and gently apply it to your eyebrows and eyelashes. When applying it to your eyes, remember to remove excess milk by gently squeezing the cotton. Keep it for 15 minutes and wash it off with water. Doing this every day will give you the desired results.

Day after day, you can admire longer and healthier eyelashes and brows because the simplest beauty solutions are a step away from you... in your kitchen.
