What an enjoyable few hours spent this evening at the Bare Mineral counter at House of Fraser Nottingham.
I braced the wintery weather and was warmly welcomed by the two hosts with a glass of bubbly and strawberries dipped in chocolate and a raffle ticket.
Guests were given an overview of some of the best Bare Mineral products and offers in the range which would make great gifts for Christmas for family and friends.
We were also able to see a demo of the products being applied to two of regular people, one young and one more mature. The looks were nice and natural and showing how just adding a little more colour, eyeliner and heavier mascara can transform the face from a day look to evening look using one simple pallet.
After the demo we were given the opportunity to test and purchase any product we wanted and with every purchase we received a raffle ticket to win one of the lovely gifts on offer. I purchased the mineral powder and stoke of light eyebrightner for darker skin tones which was nice and light but had good coverage. Just how I like it!
Tha raffel was finally drawn and i won two prizes one of which was possibly the best on the table. The prizes were - travel makeup brushes, a gold bag with mineral powder, lip gloss, eye shadow, eye shadow brush, eyeliner and a makeup brush.
Before the evening ended we were all presented with a Bare mineral goody bag which contained even more fabulous gifts to sample from other brands within House of Fraser such a perfumes, eyeliner, body wash mineral foundation to name a few.
To say this was a worthwhile and enjoyable experience is putting it lightly and I have lots of lovely products and gifts to try out over the next few months.
If you have never used Bare Mineral products I suggest you give them a try.
A big thank you goes out to the ladies who hosted the event and I look forward to attending another event again soon and telling everyone all about it.

Beautiful and Damned is one of four big makeup trends this coming A/W from Mac Cosmetics.
The trick with this look is to make it look effortless but to also notice the precision in the lines. Think of a look that was done in the morning but still looks good by the evening, or a DIY job vs refined.
Black is your main colour. You can go creative with a smudged kohl on the eyes or heavy carbon colours of black with a black or berry tone precision lip, or a smudged lip with precision lines around the eyes. Team either look with luminous polished skin and you can’t go wrong.
Remember…. Black, effortless vs precision is the key to mastering one of tis seasons new makeup trend.

- Black Chromaline – Pigmented and long-wear gel liner formula
- Beg For It Into the Well Eye Shadow – Wet/dry carbon black shadow liner

- Media Lipstick – Satin
MAC Cosmetics announced today that Charlotte Olympia will be the latest designer to collaborate with the cosmetics powerhouse.
My eyes have been looking fabulous this week, as I have been reviewing Eye of Horus products. It is an Australian colour cosmetics brand that promises to bring out your inner Goddess. Eye of Horus products are not tested on animals they contain natural ingredients and are paraben free. All products either come in gold or black stylish packaging. I was more than pleased with each product that I tested.
• Dynasty brow define-this is a thin make-up pen used for filling in your brows and giving you perfect arches as an end result. (My colour was medium/dark). One of the ingredients in Castor oil, which enhances your brows condition and growth.
• Babylon brown liquid define-this glides smoothly onto your eyes to give a loud but perfect line. It is also smudge proof and will stay on all day.
• Goddess smoky eye pencil-this was my favourite, I used this to achieve black smoky eyes. I used the pencil part to draw on the lines and then used the other end to smudge, ending up with perfect smoky eyes.
• Eye of Horus Goddess mascara-ingredients include Moringa oil that was found in King Tuts tomb. This make-up is based on ancient Egyptian formulas and is said to have beautifying powers by the Gods. It made my lashes longer, thicker and they did not smudge or clump together.
• Goddess smudge proof eye pencil-easily glides on, looks fantastic and does not smudge.
In my ultimate Goddess promotional pack I also received a custom cosmetic sharpener and a free promotional gift. Eye of Horus products help my eyes make a statement and it really has revealed my inner Goddess.

This fashion week season is well underway having started in New York and soon to be in London in just a couple of days time. We all know that fashion week season is focused on the clothes being showcased from all the fabulous designers around the globe but a women's guilty pleasure is that we can't help but admire all the makeup looks created on the models each season.
One of the most iconic makeup artists in the world of makeup and present at fashion week every season creating beautifully designed looks whether it be natural to creative is Pat McGrath. Pat McGrath’s name is no secret to anyone in the business, her talent is beyond incredible and each season I look forward to seeing her new makeup designs. Makeup trends soon spread across the globe each season based on the key looks she creates and the new season will be no different.
McGrath’s main focus on all models across all designers she keyed makeup looks for this season at NYFW was to keep the skin soft and dewy. Gleaming, glowing skin with well defined structured brows were key for all models. She then adapted looks to suit each individual designers designs.
For Jenny Peckham, McGrath chose to use a turquoise eyeliner in a shape to suit the individual models eyes, she then teamed up with either a nude or bold red lip.
At Diane Von Furstenburg, she chose shades of turquoise and blue-greens to create a jewel toned eye again keeping the lips nude teamed with the gleaming skin.
Victoria Beckham’s models were kept a little more simple concentrating on the glowing skin teamed with either a nude lip or a pop of orange-red lips.
While at Givenchy she changed the direction slightly by adding a wash of mauve shadow around all of the eye. And keeping the brows light.
Not only were pastel shades of turquoise, green and blue used on the eyes in Pat McGrath’s designs it seemed to be everywhere supported with a nude or orange tone red lip.
So now you're ahead of one of the makeup trends at NYFW SS16 why not head down to the makeup counters and try some shades for yourself.
Summer was all about glowing skin but with the changing season, the trend is all about natural looking skin with a matte finish. You can achieve this “no make- up look” with a skin nourishing foundation moisturising the skin while still looking fresh faced and natural.
Maybelline’s Fit ME dewy smooth, matches’ skins natural tone while it hydrates skin for a smooth skin texture and a luminous and seamless finish.
Up your natural “no make-up look” with bold lips. Master the bold lip by making sure that your lips are hydrated and flake free. Be sure to balance out the rest of your makeup by concealing redness, keeping skin fresh, and using a subtle colour on your cheeks and an eye-opening mascara.
Top of my list is;
• Clinique Pop lip colour + primer in Berry Pop , Cola pop and Passion Pop
• Maybelline’s Colour sensational creamy mattes in Divine Wine, Burgundy blush, and Siren in scarlet
A natural look with beautiful rich lipstick shades, defined and lightly glowing cheekbones with wide eyed and sensational lashes for autumn.
Combine your look with a sultry warm and woody scent and finished it off with the new Essie collection and you are ready to rock n roll!!
Strobing is the talk of the beauty industry this season and it's fast becoming a popular trend for the catwalk.. But what is strobing?
Essentially, strobing is an advanced form of highlighting with no contour to compliment it. We use the technique to make the skin appear fresh, natural and healthy.
So how is it different to highlighting?...
When we highlight the skin whether it be teamed with a darker contour or not, we have more going on in the makeup look. That may be eye makeup, a lip colour or a strong contour. Strobing, is highlighting with no other distractions within the makeup look. It is the main focus and is instantly the technique our eyes are drawn to when looking at the face.
The technique to strobing is adding a highlighting cream or powder to the highest points of the face.. Above the eyebrows, the forehead, top of the cheek bones, nose and above the upper lip. My favourite way is by using highlighting creams.
My must have product…

Monday I was invited down to Nice Nails Baby in Clapham Junction to try out their Walking On Air Pedicure. I have to admit I had slightly fallen off with my pedicure game to the point that during our recent heatwave I couldn’t rock my sandals because my toes were far from on point.
Generally I do love a good pedicure as it give me a chance to relax and get pampered but be with work and trying to buy a flat time has not been on my side so when I got the invitation I was delighted to pop down to trendy Clapham to get my feet right.
Nice Nails Baby i.e. located almost directly across from the station inside the Electric Beach Tanning Salon.
I loved the classy yet eclectic décor which was a far cry from the bland and almost clinical décor of most nail shops. Everywhere you looked there was pictures of nail designs to give customers inspiration which had e looking down at my hands wondering if I had time for a quick manicure also but I was pushed for time so I made a mental not to come back another time.
I was greeted by Michelle Duberry who is also Managing Director and founder of Nice Nails Baby and lead to the pedicure room.
After deciding on a colour was sitting pretty soaking my tootise in a warm foot spa then a foot mask was applied and my feet were wrapped in cling film while Michelle and I shot the breeze about everything from fashion to blogging to natural hair journeys and she even recommended a hairdresser to me Result!!
Once the mask was washed off of me feet a foot file was used to buff my feet free of any rough or dry skin. Next my cuticles were pushed back and my nails were cut and shaped.
Before the nail colour was applied a foot scrub was used, followed by lotion and a relaxing foot rub.
Throughout the treatment I felt very comfortable and no discomfort was experienced. The treatment was done to a high standard, the and as I was feeling comfortable the time seemed to fly by.
As my appointment was on a Monday morning I expected it to be quiet however there were a number of people popping in to enquire about appointments. I would love to come back when it was quite busy because I imagine the atmosphere would be laid back and fun. Even though Clapham is bit out my way I explained to Michelle that when it comes to good customer service I am normally happy to go out of my way or pay extra because you want to feel happy with the service especially when it comes to being pampered.
Pedicures start from £22 which I think is totally reasonable and Nice Nails Baby also offers a wide range of other beauty treatments including manicures, eye lash extensions, eyelash tinting, and brow tinting and waxing. They also offer package deals for a number of treatments which is great if you are getting ready for a special event or holiday. There is also a Nail party service where they can come to your house and pamper you and your friends which I thought was an excellent idea for a girly evening.

I have spent most of my teenage, and early adult life scouring supermarket, and cosmetic store shelves, to find the latest and greatest innovation in skin care products, and if anything, it has left me feeling deflated, and unsatisfied.
Every lady wants to smell nice when they go out for a night on the town and especially after a work out at the gym or after a long hard day at the office.
