Eyes are the window to our souls but fine lines and wrinkles around this area can detract from ones overall appearance.

Here are a few tricks to keep the skin around your eyes looking fresh and healthy.

Stay Out Of The Sun

Long term exposure to the sun can lead to wrinkles and a loss of elasticity around your eyes. Protecting your skin against the sun is key since UV rays account for 80% of skin aging.

Wear sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30 all over your face every time you leave the house. A vitamin C serum can also be applied to decrease hyperpigmentation and protect skin against free radicals. Wearing sunglasses and installing a UV tint on your car windows can also limit sun exposure. If you drive, take care to apply extra sunscreen to the side of your face that is right next to the car window.

Pick A Neutralizing Concealer

Dark circles and discoloration under your eyes can age the eye area considerably. Many people pick a concealer shade that is close to their skin tone but you may have better results with a neutralizing concealer. Orange shades are ideal for warm skin tones while those with cool undertones may want to use a peach based concealer.

You can either warm the product up with your fingers and pat it directly on the undereye area or use a beauty blender to push it into place. Finish off by with a layer of pressed powder to avoid creasing throughout the day.

Use An Eye Serum

Eye serums are a lot more concentrated compared to eye creams allowing for deeper penetration into the skin. Opt for an eye serum with peptides which increase skin’s collagen production for visibly firmer looking skin. Look for a serum with hyaluronic acid which is known for its ability to bind to water and hydrating properties.

Pump Up Your Lashes

Thinning and sparse lashes can add years to the eye area. Amplify your mascara by using a primer underneath and brush out subsequent layers with a metal lash comb for a fanned-out effect. An eyelash serum can also be used to accelerate growth for fuller and natural lashes.

For special occasions you may want to consider false strip lashes or individual fake lashes. Individual lashes are more time consuming to apply but give the most natural effect.

Fill In Your Brows

Subtract years from your face is by getting enhancing your brows for a fuller shape. Thin brows can make you look tired plus they can make your features disappear. One of the easiest ways to get a thicker brow is by filling yours in with a powder using an angled brush and a product like Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo. Use the lighter shade towards the inner corner of your brows and finish the tail off with the darker shade for a natural look. Follow up with a brow spoolie in order to really blend the color.

For a more dramatic look opt for a colored brow gel which can also be applied with an angled brush. If you want a more permanent solution you may want to consider microblading which is a process where pigment is implanted under the skin with hair-like strokes.
