Costume design has played a central role in cinema storytelling for over one hundred years.

Explore the role of designers and their contribution to the creative filmmaking process from the silent film era to modern digital film-making. Examine the designer’s script to screen process and some notable collaborations between designers, actors, and directors, including, among others, costumes worn by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, part of the British Film Institute film costume collection which was transferred to the V&A in 2015.
